Founded in 2007, Capstan Advisors is the leading provider of operating models, organizational design, outsourcing process management, contract negotiation, and transition support for corporate real estate departments of Fortune 500 companies. Our consultants advise clients on all aspects of facilities, construction, and transactions management and real estate support services. In mid-2022, Capstan was acquired by Incendium, a global corporate real estate consultancy headquartered in London. Incendium provides similar services to corporate clients plus strategy and change (including portfolio strategy and planning and workplace strategy) and sustainability consulting.

Our combined teams add value for clients with solutions that improve the efficiency and effectiveness of corporate real estate and facilities services and the value of the portfolio managed.

The Role

We are seeking a Principal Consultant to join our North America practice. There you will be part of a world-class team that develops breakthrough solutions and generates quantifiable results. You will be responsible for delivering advisory services to client real estate and facilities functions, interfacing with clients and managing consulting projects to completion. You will be expected to be able to work independently but as part of a team and be adept at engaging with client teams day to day. Aside from the client focus you will also be given the opportunity to work with the business to help grow our proposition and take a proactive role in supporting our future bid opportunities and growth.

What will you be doing?

  • Responsible for leading and managing fast moving, large scale and complex projects.
  • Developing high quality work which require minimal revisions and managing others' outputs.
  • Being analytical, understanding how to interpret data, applying processes, developing themes from qualitative data and presenting findings and recommendations.
  • Managing financial models, carrying out analysis and preparing client presentations.
  • Leading client meetings and workshops, including solutioning sessions with service providers during competitive RFP processes or in the development of client organization design.
  • Contribution to the development of operating models, organization design and supporting activities typical consultancy processes such as process mapping and developing governance regimes.
  • Working with fellow consultants and client teams to create content and communicate strategies that inform CRE executives, business leaders and client employees on solutions and next steps.
  • Supporting the development of best practices, market insights and emerging trends across Real Estate and FM.
  • Support the day-to-day management, personal development and mentoring of junior members of the team and taking a lead on internal business development activities.
  • Support Directors in developing a strategy for new business development activities and the ongoing management of key client relationships.

Who are we looking for?

  • Prior experience in management consulting, engineering, finance, sourcing or commercial real estate.
  • Experience in client-side Corporate Real Estate with a focus on operations and facilities management.
  • Strong prior experience in operating models, organizational design and outsourcing.
  • Experience leading on complex global projects or being part of international teams.
  • Bachelor's Degree or MBA. Other post graduate degrees are a plus.
  • Ability to work fully independently in a highly collaborative and unstructured environment.
  • Strong project and people management skills and excellent stakeholder engagement experience.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, data analytical and written communications skills.
  • Excellent oral and interpersonal skills, having the ability to communicate and present effectively to clients.
  • Hands on approach to assignments, willing to lead but able to listen and build consensus.
  • Flexible, hard-working, ability to multi-task and work to tight deadlines.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in MSFT (Word, Excel, Powerpoint). Working knowledge of Power BI a plus.
  • Fluent and proficient in English as a spoken language, additional languages a plus.
  • Ability to travel both domestically and internationally.
