Job Description Summary
The Office of Student Engagement Building Assistants play an important role in assisting OSE staff on projects and serving as the customer service face within the Roche Dining Commons for our campus community as well as maintaining the Roche Dining Commons building. Individuals in this role work both the information desk and the front desk in the OSE office. This position reports to the Coordinator in Student Engagement and is hired for the full academic year. Below is a summary of the job responsibilities and expectations of the position.

  • Answer OSE phone line, take messages, and be a source of information for people calling
  • Reply to various OSE emails
  • Serve as a friendly, hospitable, welcoming presence to people coming into the office and info desk
  • Complete project-based initiatives for OSE staff
  • As needed, assist in working OSE events during office hours. These includes such as Orientation, Family Weekend, Welcome Weeks, Activities Fairs. There may also be opportunities to work extra hours outside regular office hours.
  • Attend fall and spring trainings
  • Assist in keeping OSE office areas in clean and presentable condition
  • Monitor Roche Dining Commons facility and maintenance needs; report needs to appropriate (e.g., maintenance, custodial, and technology); and ensuring tables and chairs are in their proper places
  • Oversee the Commuter Lounge by rearranging furniture, ensuring the space is clean, and all policies of the space are followed
  • Maintain all commons spaces in the Roche Dining Commons building, ensuring they are open, clean, set up properly, and ready for each event scheduled, as needed
  • Oversee all bulletin boards in the buildings making sure flyers are approved and not expired
  • Assist community members coming in the Information Desk as much as possible. This includes knowing the daily events occurring in the building, being familiar with the physical layout of the Roche Commons, and giving directions to areas on campus
  • Manage distribution of games and equipment
  • Sell tickets and items for the Office and student organizations; maintain the cash register and Hill Card and credit card readers
  • Provide lost and found services, including logging, and returning lost items
  • Always maintain confidentiality regarding any conversation, phone call, or paperwork privy to while working got the Office of Student Engagement
  • Ability to work independently
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements
Knowledge and/or willingness to learn the operations and services of the Office of Student Engagement. Knowledge of office procedures, computer skills. Ability to work independently
