Head of Scale-Up (Chemical Plant)

Piper Maddox are working on behalf of a leading battery manufacturer who are paving the way for high-power energy storage innovation. With over 10 years of industry experience, they now hold a strong investor base. The company has hundreds of millions in investment allowing them to provide high-end energy storage solution services for customers in automotive, renewable energy, grid applications and more. They are now looking for a Head of Scale-Up to lead a team of top scientific professionals, focusing on scaling up their production process from pilot to industrial scale.
The role:
- Oversee the construction of one of the largest production plants.
- Lead the scale-up team and further team growth.
- Develop and execute the scale-up plan and manage the budget.
- Design the plant layout and ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Manage vendors, optimize carbon synthesis, and improve plant performance.
- Establish quality control measures and prioritize safety.
- Implement sustainability practices by identifying and addressing potential risks and challenges.
- Manage the project budget and communicate updates.
- Lead commissioning and plant start-up.
Your background:
- A Master's degree in chemical engineering or a related field.
- Proven experience in managing complex engineering projects in the chemical industry.
- Proficiency in optimizing carbon synthesis processes using process design software and techniques.
- Strong project management skills for planning, executing and monitoring project phases.
- In-depth knowledge of chemical engineering principles related to carbon synthesis.
- Experience with toxic gases like chlorine and Hydrogen is a plus.
- Familiarity with environmental regulations, safety standards, and permits.
- Ability to analyse and innovate solutions for complex technical challenges.
- Excellent leadership, team management, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- A problem-solving mindset and adaptability to changing circumstances.
- Proficiency in project management tools and software.
- Proficiency in both German and English.
