The University Libraries seek an innovative, knowledgeable, service-oriented, and dynamic individual to serve as a Music Librarian. The Music Librarian will work collaboratively with teaching and library faculty colleagues to develop and provide information resources, information literacy, and research expertise to faculty and students in the School of Music and work closely with the Harold Schiffman Music Library staff on the day-to-day operations of the branch. Some evening/weekend work is expected.
This position reports to the Head of Research, Outreach, and Instruction and will join a highly collaborative department of nine librarians and four paraprofessionals. The Research, Outreach, and Instruction Department (ROI) supports the teaching mission of UNCG by providing research assistance and information literacy instruction.
Minimum Qualifications
- ALA-Accredited MLS degree (or finishing MLS by December 18, 2023)
- Experience providing reference services
- Demonstrated research experience in music, theatre, and/or dance
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Music or demonstrated subject knowledge in music, theatre and/or dance
- Experience providing information literacy instruction
- Experience working in an academic library
- Supervisory experience
Key Responsibilities
- Liaison work, including instruction, consultations, and collection development (60% of time)
- Support for Harold Schiffman Music Library (30% of time)
- Supervision (10% of time)
