As part of a management team, this position supervises assigned kitchen staff and ensures tasks are completed following state regulations and facility policies and procedures. In addition, tray line accuracy is checked for each meal served. Weekend shifts are required.

Required Qualifications

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Must have completed the 120-hour Dietary Managers course
  • Three years of related food service experience
  • Experience in a healthcare food service facility
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Flexible working hours and days
  • Must have the ability to work harmoniously with a variety of people
  • Must show confidentiality in the performance of duties
  • Ability to read, write, and speak in English with professional working proficiency
  • Ability to meet acceptable background check standards

Preferred Qualifications

  • AA or BS in Dietetics
  • Supervisory experience

Position Responsibilities

  • Supervises, evaluates, and disciplines employees
  • Assigns tasks and duties to kitchen staff based on facility needs and daily schedules
  • Ensures all tasks are completed in compliance with departmental policies and procedures
  • Demonstrates a working knowledge of and ensures compliance with all New York State sanitary rules and regulations
  • Finds coverage for hourly staff as needed
  • Ensures compliance with company policies and procedures
  • Completes in-service education to hourly staff as assigned
  • Responsible for all other required tasks as assigned
  • Other duties as assigned

Physical demands: While performing duties on this job, the employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; talk, or hear; taste or smell. The employee must lift and move up to 35 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment: While performing duties of this job, the employee is exposed to weather conditions prevalent at the time. The noise in the work environment is usually minimal.

Additional Details

  • FSLA Status: Exempt
  • Salary: $62,400
  • Schedule: varies 40+ hours (various days/various shifts) - Flexibility is a MUST. Weekends and Holidays required.
