We are seeking a highly motivated individual for an Engineering Manager position focused on interconnection in our US office who will work with the company's portfolio development.
About the job
As an Interconnection Engineering Manager, you will manage all aspects of the interconnection design of large scale solar, wind and battery storage projects including substation design and equipment selection, as well as cable/line design, from initial concept through all design and construction phases. You will also participate in project feasibility studies from the design & cost perspective as well as supervising external consultants, engineers, and EPC contractors through the design process. This role will provide key support and oversight during the grid connection application process, design and construction activities to achieve the interconnection of the Solar, Wind or Battery system.
Your tasks will include:
- Manage the Interconnection application, Study and Connection processes for all projects.
- Be the primary interface with Utility and Distribution/Transmission Network Operators for network capacity and grid studies as required to secure interconnection, lead the submission of key technical information and be the key technical representative for the Company with the stakeholders.
- Liaise and coordinate interconnection design and activities internally within OX2's project development, construction, engineering team and others providing support on:
- Provide technical support to avoid any impact on the planning.
- Preparing technical specifications, scoping documents and clarifications.
- Ensure compliance with company, industry, trade, and jurisdictional safety standards, practices, codes.
- Calculations, specifications and drawings: High/Medium transmission lines & substations with the associated civil designs with internal/external consultants.
- Quantity survey and budgeting of designs to assist in the cost estimation and procurement of the key equipment & contractors.
- Prepare technical & economic analysis.
- Ensure that 3rd Party designs comply with internal, Utility, ISO, and jurisdictional standards and code requirements.
About you
For this position we want you to have:
- BA/BS degree in Engineering. Electrical Engineering Preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of engineering experience with a minimum of 2 years of experience with Medium/High Voltage design or management of 3rd party designers.
- Minimum 1-year of engineering experience on the interconnection of power plants, preferably utility scale photovoltaic projects, wind farms or battery storage projects.
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the grid functioning and planning.
- Mastery of minimum design requirements for safe operation and regulatory & permitting approval.
- High proficiency with AutoCAD, PLS-CAD, DigSilent, PSSE, ETAP and similar Electrical Engineering software domain; project management software, in addition to MS Excel, MS Project, and the MS Office suite.
- Professional Certifications and/or advanced degree viewed as favorable for position requirements (PE, MBA, CEM, NABCEP, EIT, PMP).
- Demonstrated ability to interact and work with multi-functional teams including: sales, customers, equipment vendors, multi discipline engineers, and utilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, including written and verbal.
- Demonstrated ability to correctly solve complex problems and issues without regular supervision.
- Demonstrated experience working in complex jurisdictional or utility environments.
- Experience working in EPC (engineer, procure, construct), or PPA (power purchase agreement) environment a plus.
- A valid driving license and passport.
