To support the LAND L(i)EBEN staff unit in the Kusel district administration, we are looking for a IT specialist (geo) data (m/f/d).

What we are looking for:

  • Completed studies (Bachelor/Master/Diploma) in geoinformatics, computer science, data science or a related (natural science) field
  • Data management: experience in data analysis, preparation and visualization ideally with Python (Pandas)
  • GIS knowledge: Experience with QGIS and ideally SQL for geographic data analysis
  • Database knowledge: Sound knowledge, preferably SQL
  • Interest in IoT: A basic understanding of IoT protocols (LoRaWAN/NB-IoT) to integrate and analyze data sources
  • Experience with web technologies: understanding of REST APIs, CRUD operations and basic web development
  • Programming skills: initial experience with Python
  • Cloud technology: basic knowledge, ideally with AWS

Main tasks:

  • Data management and analysis:
  • Support in the collection, analysis and management of data for project planning, execution and visualization
  • Creation of meaningful representations of collected data, e.g. for presentations and websites for better comprehensibility for third parties and for data exchange
  • Geodata management:
    • Management, processing and analysis of spatial data from various areas – both file-based and in databases
    • Updating geodatabases with newly acquired datasets
    • Creation and structuring of geodatabases for the efficient management and use of existing data
    • Creation of maps for the visualization of geographical information
  • IoT projects:
    • Participation in the implementation of IoT projects from site analysis to monitoring
    • Sensor selection and connection to existing systems
    • Development and support of ETL processes for data integration
  • Communication and collaboration:
    • Exchange with external consultants and other MPSC*s to coordinate and further develop projects

    The advertised position is suitable for an alternating teleworking position. In principle, it is possible to fill the position with two complementary part-time employees.
