Senior Systems Administrator (Theater Compute & Storage Environment)

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Administer, operate, and maintain virtualized infrastructure services using vCenter, System Center Virtual Machine Manager (VMM), or other tools as appropriate and available, providing support ranging from Tier 2 to Tier 3 support in support of the Non-Core Theater Compute & Storage Environment systems as determined by the Government.
  • Responsible for the administration, maintenance and support of theater-wide IT systems and infrastructure including managing servers, ensuring system availability and implementing solutions to improve system performance and security.
  • Oversees the installation, configuration and maintenance of servers including physical and virtual environments.
  • Oversees the operation and maintenance of backup software at multiple sites across theatre.
  • Collaborates with stakeholders to understand business needs and requirements and provide appropriate solutions.
  • Monitors systems performance and troubleshoots moderate to complex issues to ensure high availability and reliability.
  • Conducts security audits and assessments to ensure compliance with organization policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage allocated storage to avoid incidents caused by lack of capacity.
  • Manages and tests backup and recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and availability.
  • Develops and maintains disaster recovery plans for critical systems and services.
  • Participates in disaster recovery drills and business continuity planning as required by the government.
  • Follow the backup and recovery plans to ensure there is no application performance degradation according to service-level agreements.
  • Provides support to end users and other IT staff by resolving complex hardware, software and system related issues.
  • Maintains detailed documentation of system configurations, procedures and changes.
  • Creates reports on system performance, security incidents and other key metrics.
  • Coordinates with other IT teams to ensure coordinated delivery of IT services.
  • Provides recommendations for system improvements based on analysis and industry best practices.
  • Monitor service request ticket queues for support requests.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science/systems, information systems/technology, engineering/engineering technology, software engineering/programming, management, natural sciences, social sciences, mathematics or business/finance.

Experience: This position requires a minimum of five years’ experience, of which at least three years must be specialized experience in administrating computer systems. General experience includes operations experience on a large-scale computer system or a multi-server local area network.

Certifications:

  • Possess and maintain DoD 8570 IAT Level II Certification
  • Possess and maintain one of the following DoD 8570 Computing Environment (CE) Certifications appropriate to providing systems administration:
    • VMWare VCP/Data Center Virtualization (or higher – Advanced Professional or Design Expert)
    • VMWare VCP/vSphere Foundations Administrator
    • VMWare VCP/Cloud Foundation Administrator
    • Microsoft Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate (AZ800/801)
    • Microsoft Azure Administrator Associated (AZ-104)
    • Microsoft Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305)
    • MCSA Server 2016
    • MCSE Core Infrastructure

The successful candidate will have to update CE certification within 6 months of hire.

Additional Requirements : Candidate must meet Germany TESA requirements as follows:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree and three (3) years of recent specialized experience; or
  • Associates Degree and seven (7) years of recent specialized experience; or
  • No degree and 11 years of recent specialized experience.
