The Credit Management Employee is responsible for managing and overseeing the credit processes for the company. This includes assessing creditworthiness, setting appropriate credit limits, ensuring timely payments, and managing any overdue accounts. The role involves working closely with the finance, sales, and customer service teams to mitigate financial risk while maintaining good customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Credit Assessment: Evaluate the creditworthiness of new and existing customers by reviewing credit applications, financial statements, and conducting credit checks using credit rating agencies.
  • Setting Credit Limits: Establish and monitor credit limits for customers to ensure they are within the company’s acceptable risk tolerance.
  • Accounts Receivable Management: Oversee the collection of outstanding debts and manage accounts receivable, ensuring timely payments from customers.
  • Customer Communication: Regularly communicate with customers regarding their credit status, payment terms, and overdue accounts. Ensure that payment reminders are sent in a timely and professional manner.
  • Monitoring Payments: Track and review the status of overdue accounts and ensure that payments are made promptly.
  • Reporting: Prepare regular reports on the status of accounts receivable, outstanding balances, and collection efforts for management review.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential risks in credit accounts and work proactively to minimize bad debt exposure. Recommend changes to credit policies when necessary.
  • Dispute Resolution: Resolve any customer disputes related to invoicing, payments, or credit issues in a professional manner.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the sales and customer service departments to ensure that credit decisions align with customer relations and business objectives.
  • Compliance: Ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulatory requirements concerning credit management.
  • Credit Policy Development: Assist in the development, implementation, and maintenance of company-wide credit policies and procedures to ensure consistency and effectiveness.
  • Credit Insurance: Coordinate with external credit insurance providers to protect against potential bad debts.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
  • Proven experience in credit management, finance, or accounting roles (typically 2-5 years)
  • Strong understanding of credit and collections processes, financial analysis, and risk management principles
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and German, with the ability to interact effectively with customers and internal teams
  • Ability to analyze financial data, assess credit risk, and make informed decisions
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when reviewing financial documents and payment histories
  • Ability to identify issues, resolve disputes, and provide practical solutions.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel) and experience with accounting/ERP software
  • Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple tasks efficiently
