Job Highlights
- Lead and perform all electrical and instrumentation-related maintenance work orders and associated troubleshooting/support for the entire plant.
- Interact with and support 3rd party calibration services provider and identify cost savings opportunities to perform calibrations internally.
- Perform configuration, programming, and electrical work for equipment and systems, including Motors, variable frequency drives, temperature controllers, control valves, vacuum sensors, PLC panels, motor starters, electrical control circuits, etc.
- Evaluate and recommend new electrical components and standards for the plant.
- Responsible for leading and/or performing preventive and routine maintenance of all electrical and instrumentation systems.
- Perform work activities in a safe and environmentally conscious manner in accordance with all Environmental, Safety and Regulatory requirements (Chemtura Eight Life Criticals)
- Readily assist with diagnosing and repairing mechanical equipment failures as requested such as transfer pumps – centrifugal, positive displacement and air operated diaphragm, vacuum pumps – rotary piston and mechanical booster, gear reducers, cooling towers, heat exchangers, etc.
- Execute changes to the automation system for engineering improvements.
- Train maintenance staff and others on electrical and instrumentation maintenance fundamentals
- Actively identify and recommend opportunities to improve electrical, instrumentation and automation systems
- Support and interact with other functions including engineering and procurement in their initiatives and projects.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Associate’s degree in a related technical field preferred
- Flexibility to be on call, work nights and weekends
- Ability to work well with internal stakeholders and external contractors
- Familiar with OSHA Regulations (General Duty Clause, PSM, etc.) and NFPA 70E
- Must have 4+ years electrical/instrumentation experience in an industrial setting – DCS/PLC programming experience will be viewed as a strong plus
- High mechanical aptitude
- Desired to have experience with the controls of gas/oil fired boilers, vacuum systems and industrial chillers and other similar packaged equipment from vendors
- Proficiency with basic office computer software, e.g., word processing, email, and spreadsheets
- Demonstrated experience with Allen Bradley drives/PLCs, Honeywell Experion/controllers, Omron PLCs/controllers is a plus
- Chemical industry experience is considered a plus
