Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln (Cologne University of Music and Dance) is one of the world\’s leading performing arts schools and one of the largest music institutions for higher education in Europe with campuses in Cologne, Wuppertal, and Aachen. Position
The Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln is looking to fill the position of Professorship Piano (Pay Scale W3) in Department 1 (Composition, Keyboard Instruments, Harmony / Counterpoint, Ear Training, String Instruments, Electronic Composition) at the Cologne Campus starting in the summer semester 2026.
Responsibilities
- Teaching the artistic main subject piano within all study courses.
Requirements
- A completed university degree.
- University teaching experience.
- Regular presence on campus.
- Active participation in the committees of academic self-governance and if needed, the completion of administrative and/or management tasks.
- Active participation in student assessments, the development of study programs and teaching concepts, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
- The willingness to actively participate in the artistic life of the university, e.g., in performances and competitions.
- German language proficiency, respectively the willingness to learn the German language within two years.
Employment Conditions
The employment prerequisites are based on Section 29 of the Act on the Universities of Art of North Rhine-Westphalia (Kunst HG NRW). The employment will be within the framework of a private-law employment relationship and will initially be limited to two years.
