The Project Officer will support Ethiopian-led and Ethiopian-owned dialogue efforts on multiple interconnected tracks, including at the national and subnational levels, with specific stakeholder groups.
Overview of the position:
Duration: until May 2025, with possible extension until January 2026 depending on project funds.
Location: Berlin, Germany (with frequent intercontinental travel)
Department & Reporting line: General Regional Peace Support Department, reporting to the Head of Unit Ethiopia and Senior Project Manager
Responsibilities:
- Contribute to organizing, coordinating, and implementing project activities in Ethiopia in close collaboration with the project team and partners in Addis Ababa.
- Conduct background research and provide abstracts on conflict topics as needed.
- Assist in content-related preparation and organization of workshops in Berlin and Addis Ababa.
- Collaborate with Finance Managers and logistics colleagues on budget planning and project activities.
- Contribute to project proposal development, donor reporting, and administrative and financial procedures.
Your knowledge, experience & skills:
- Master\’s degree in Peace and Conflict Studies, Political Science, International Relations, or a related field.
- Relevant work experience in event organization, budget management, and task coordination in an international and intercultural setting.
- Ideally, thematic knowledge of dialogue/mediation processes and/or regional expertise in Ethiopia/Horn of Africa.
- Fluency in spoken and written English.
- Strong organizational, intercultural, and interpersonal communication skills; ability to work in high-level settings.
- Curiosity, empathy, passion, commitment, and perseverance.
- Willingness to travel to the Horn of Africa region.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
