Job Location : This role will be based in Germany (Hamburg) or Rotterdam (Netherlands).
Job Purpose
- Develop and grow relationships and future business with targeted carriers.
- Develop a carrier pool for DB Schenker considering DB Schenker requirements.
- Point of contact for Global Projects & Industry Solutions team charter inquiries.
- Point of contact for carriers for inquiries and quotes.
- Chartering role acting as broker between internal customers/colleagues and external carriers.
- Lift the cooperation between carriers and DB Schenker in the region.
- Grow and develop the chartering team and knowledge in Europe.
- Actively respond to internal DB Schenker requests for solutions & prices from carriers and maintain direct local relationships with relevant stakeholders from the carrier side.
- Work closely with the local & regional business development team to develop innovative solutions to ensure DB Schenker\’s growth in the ocean chartering business.
- Educate business development on chartering and, if required, assist in the sales/solution discussions with clients.
- Ensure ocean chartering is undertaken safely and complies with DB Schenker guidelines and operational procedures.
- Minimize DB Schenker\’s liability exposure on charter bookings via carrier/vessel vetting and negotiating favorable terms with carriers and/or clients.
- Report functionally to the Head of Global Chartering.
Key Tasks
- Grow the regional/local chartering team, serving as a central focal point along with other regional and global chartering team members.
- Receive inquiries from DB Schenker Global Projects & Industry Solutions Team for ocean charters with cargo originating from Europe.
- Analyze inquiries and determine strategy and solution for the charter scope and the most suitable carrier to win the bid/tender.
- Create an overview and present pricing and solution recommendations.
- Drive competitive pricing, compliance, and carrier management.
- Translate and explain pricing/requirements internally as well as DB Schenker/client requirements externally towards carriers.
- Initiate and explore all possible options for optimal results.
- Drive and support agreed pricing process, data quality, and compliance.
- Ensure competitive pricing through the use of various benchmarking tools.
- Act as a subject matter expert for colleagues and clients.
- Support and assist other chartering regions when required.
Requirements
Qualifications / Experience
- Bachelor\’s Degree or equivalent experience/qualification.
- More than 10 years of relevant business experience in project chartering and heavy lift.

- Provide technical and commercial guidance to line managers and employees.
