Legal Counsel – German Branch (Openbank)

Mission and Responsibilities:
As a Legal Counsel of our German branch, you will be part of the Legal Team and work with different stakeholders (Product, Fraud, Risk, IT, Compliance, etc.) of Openbank in Spain and the Branch. You will assist in all legal matters related to the activity of Openbank in Germany, including the activities carried out by Zinia in the German market.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Providing legal and regulatory advice related to the ordinary activity of Openbank’s German branch and Zinia project activities, supporting various areas on different products and services in retail banking within a digital environment, such as consumer loans, buy now pay later, insurance products, and wealth management.
- Participating in the design, obtaining necessary internal and external approvals, and monitoring the commercial launch of new products and services.
- Reviewing and drafting legal documentation, including contracts, confidentiality agreements, and communications to clients.
- Advising on the implementation of new regulations at both European and national levels.
- Advising on administrative files and carrying out procedures before public registries.
- Participating in digitalization and innovation projects.
To Be Successful in the Role, You Must Have:
- A Degree in German Law and be a fully qualified lawyer in Germany.
- An LLM in Banking Law (a plus).
- Great judgment, proactive attitude, innovation, and customer obsession.
- Team player and consensus builder with excellent people skills, capable of efficiently collaborating with different areas of the organization.
- Years of experience in a banking legal environment; relevant experience from a law firm or in-house at a financial institution is a plus.
- Proven experience in banking and/or investment products, particularly in regulation related to contracting banking/investment products remotely and consumer protection laws.
- Advanced MS skills are required.
