ABOUT US
Knowledge, action, change: each day, these intrinsically linked values inspire us to meet and tackle the societal and technological challenges of our time. As well as providing the specialists and managers of tomorrow with the interdisciplinary knowledge they will need in their future careers, we seek to advance their problem-solving skills and their awareness of their responsibility in and to the world.
With the applied sciences at the heart of all we do, we work hand in hand to create a visionary campus with a positive and enduring effect on Hamburg and the surrounding region.
HAW Hamburg. Because you can make a difference.
YOUR ROLE
As a professor, you will be a representative for organisational development in social and educational institutions in teaching, research and further education. This includes addressing social management, with the tasks of educational and team management, the principles of occupational and organisational psychology, business economics, and organisational sociology, with approaches to sustainable organisational development and quality management, plus cooperation and networking in the social space.
The focus will be on theoretically sound and practically proven approaches for the professional management of such institutions, for shaping relationships with audiences and users, and for designing organisational structures and processes in groups and teams.
YOUR PROFILE
You should have a diploma or master\’s degree in Social Work and/or Social Sciences, Educational Sciences or Psychology, as well as a relevant, qualified (at least magna cum laude) doctorate in the subject of Social Sciences/Sociology, Social Work, Educational Science (Social Education) or Psychology that relates thematically to the field.
Professional experience in organisational development in social or educational institutions and relevant scientific experience with organisational development and/or social management are also required.
You should be highly skilled in organisational development work for social or educational institutions, and possess an in-depth understanding of social management. In addition to this, you should also have a very good knowledge of occupational and organisational psychology, or related disciplines such as organisational sociology.
Skills in the management of teams or organisations are also beneficial.
You should have experience in the application of social and organisational research methods, in the planning and implementation of research projects, and in the creation and implementation of innovative approaches to research.
For the professorship, we are looking for a person with educational aptitude whose teaching approach stands out due to their focus on skills, practice and action. You should be able to clearly link complex theoretical contents with practical application scenarios, bridging the gap between theory and practice. We expect an affinity for effectively integrating problem-based learning into teaching, the ability to inspire students to critically reflect on their professional actions, and a willingness to work together with your colleagues to develop and implement cooperative teaching concepts.
The Faculty of Business and Social Sciences attaches great importance to internationalisation and therefore requires that applicants have a good command of English to be able to teach courses in the international semester.
HAW Hamburg is a sustainable university. As such, we would like the professorship to address the contribution of social work and childhood education to sustainable development, and to make sustainability a productive feature of our social work in teaching, research and transfer.
You must be able to work in an international and interdisciplinary environment that also takes into account aspects of gender and diversity, to develop new teaching approaches, and to enrich teaching through the use of digital technologies. We are looking for someone who can actively contribute to the further development of our faculty and inspire their students to address the global challenges in the field of social work.
