Procurement Manager

Location: Hamburg, Germany

Type: Freelance Contract (12–18 months)

Schedule: 3 Days On / 2 Days Off (Flexible Hybrid)

Rate: €80 – €120 per hour (depending on experience)

Language: Fluent German required

The Opportunity

Join a major military shipbuilding programme in Hamburg, where you’ll play a key role in the procurement and subcontract management of specialist systems for a new class of frigates. This is a long-term freelance opportunity within a fast-paced, high-security environment working alongside some of Europe’s leading naval engineers and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

1. Oversee the procurement of complex systems and components for integration onboard naval vessels
2. Manage subcontracting from tender to delivery, including supplier negotiations, contract execution, and compliance
3. Work closely with internal engineering, planning, and legal teams to ensure aligned project execution
4. Maintain supplier performance and support timely resolution of any delivery or quality issues
5. Ensure adherence to defence procurement standards and national security protocols

Requirements

1. Fluent German (spoken and written) – essential
2. Strong background in procurement/subcontract management within a military or naval shipbuilding environment
3. In-depth understanding of ship systems, equipment, and project lifecycle
4. Proven experience dealing with European and international suppliers
5. Must be eligible to work in Germany (EU citizen or valid work permit)

€80 – €120 p/h (based on experience and skillset)

Freelance contract: 12–18 months with potential for extension
