Specialist Intellectual Property (m/f/d)

Responsibilities

  • Coordination and preparation of patent and trademark applications, registration and maintenance of our property rights
  • Developing and implementing policies of our patent strategy, trademark strategy and to protect our knowhow and trade secrets
  • Carrying out novelty, nullity and opposition searches as well as freedom-to-operate analyzes (cooperation with internal employees and external third parties)
  • Responsibility for all formalities relating to the Employee Invention Act and invention disclosures
  • Support in the creation and negotiation of IP-relevant contracts, such as license, cooperation or non-disclosure agreements, delimitation agreements and declarations of use with national and international partners
  • Training of departments (target-group oriented) in relation to IP-relevant topics like inventions, patents, trademarks, trade secrets (in contrast to patent protection) and other subject-specific topics (also cross-interface with other departments)
  • Communicate effectively to R&D progress of existing patents and other IP rights
  • Managing the company’s intellectual property portfolio by identifying new opportunities for expansion and renewal of existing uses of intellectual property
  • Communicating with outside counsel regarding intellectual property issues and monitoring of patent law changes

Your strengths

  • Degree in chemistry, polymer sciences, polymer engineering.
  • Strategic thinking, negotiation skills, as well as strong customer orientation, with passion for research and innovation and the capability to quickly understand technological developments
  • Several years of experience in European and German patent law in order to understand and interpret complex information and aspects of a contract
  • Successfully completed training as a patent attorney assistant or patent officer
  • Experience with patent and trademark databases and equivalent monitoring software
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and leadership skills
  • Very good knowledge of spoken and written English
