Freelance Data Scientist – NGS & Genomic Data Visualisation | Remote/Munich

Are you a Data Scientist with expertise in NGS data pipelines and visualisation ? We\’re working with a leading European laboratory specialising in advanced leukaemia diagnostics . Their research-driven team is at the forefront of genomics, AI-driven diagnostics, and next-generation sequencing (NGS) innovation .

They are looking for a freelancer to support their data science initiatives, working closely with lab leaders to implement and optimise bioinformatics workflows.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and optimise Next-Generation Sequencing (NGS) data pipelines .
• Design and implement data visualisation tools for genomic research.
• Collaborate with lab leaders, bioinformaticians, and research scientists to translate complex biological data into actionable insights.
• Ensure best practices in data integrity, reproducibility, and scalability .

Requirements:

• PhD in Bioengineering, Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of industry experience applying data science in a biotech or genomics setting.
• Strong proficiency in Python and/or R for data processing and visualisation.
• Experience with NGS tools and pipelines (e.g., GATK, Nextflow, Snakemake).
• Understanding of laboratory research workflows and best practices.
• Freelance / Contract (initial 6-month engagement, with potential for extension).
• Location: Remote, with occasional on-site meetings in Munich .
• Start Date: ASAP.
