Job Title: First Party Wordings Specialist
Division: Property
Reports To: As per Beazley’s organisation chart
Key Relationships:
Head of First Party (FP) Wordings and all members of the FP wordings Team, European Underwriters in all FP teams, Claims staff, Compliance and other staff and brokers.
Job Summary:
To supervise and administer a quality control on wordings across all First Party lines of business. Ensure all Contract Certainty, Tax and Regulatory checks are completed. To liaise and work with any First Party Team and relevant Underwriters in drafting of new wordings and launching of new Products.
Key Responsibilities:
- Review and administer a quality control on all wordings written within First Party lines of business.
- Ensure all wordings and endorsements are in line with the relevant Focus Groups RAG document.
- Ensure all wordings and endorsements are drafted in line with local jurisdictions.
- Monitor and chase for receipt of outstanding Wordings and other documentation from brokers.
- Advise Underwriters on the merits/demerits on forms/clauses used on all documents.
- Develop network opportunities across the business, to identify best practice and develop standardised guidelines to take advantage of wordings experience in formalising contracts.
- Liaise with Brokers and monitor wordings, which are returned to brokers for changes.
- Monitor and react to such Legal and Legislative developments that affect the Company’s and the Department’s environment.
- Educate and train others on all Legal and Legislative matters e.g. Underwriting /Claims staff.
- Develop a greater knowledge of Wordings and of the business.
- Administrative functions including maintenance of a computer environment database for Policy Wordings as required.
- Ensure that all wordings that come within the Conduct Risk arena are compliant with the latest Conduct Risk legislation and regulatory requirements.
- Complete bi-annual audit of wordings including endorsements, ensuring compliant with RAG document for respective line of business.
- Drafting and review of wordings in all relevant areas of the business.

- Strong English language ability, written and spoken

- Understanding of wordings across the market for relevant lines of business

- The ability to manage time, meet deadlines and prioritise
- Computer skills – good working knowledge of MS Office, Excel and Access skills
- Team worker as well as working on own initiative
Knowledge and Experience:
- Proven experience in insurance industry
- Experience in international business
- Extended knowledge of wordings/ regulatory guidelines
- General commercial and financial knowledge
