Junior professorship „Business Administration, in particular Sustainable Finance“ (W1TTW2)

We are seeking a committed researcher for this position, with a visible international research profile and a strong research agenda, documented by publicly available working papers. Your research should focus on finance—preferably in corporate finance, capital markets, or corporate governance—and be informed by broader debates at the intersection of finance and sustainability.

Methodologically, you should possess strong quantitative analytical skills and be well-trained to apply state-of-the-art empirical methods on large datasets. A commitment to high-quality research is essential, demonstrated by presentations at leading international conferences and publications in recognized peer-reviewed outlets (VHB Jourqual 4 (B or higher) or the Academic Journal Guide (3 or higher)), with at least one article in a top-tier journal (VHB Jourqual 4 (A or A+) or the Academic Journal Guide (4 or 4*)). A viable publication strategy and a promising publication pipeline are expected.

Ideally, you have established an international network and have spent an official research visit during your PhD or Post-Doc period at a leading international business school with a recognized finance department. Experience in acquiring externally funded projects is also desirable, including successful third-party funding acquisition. You should have a convincing strategy for obtaining external funding during your junior professorship.

Regarding teaching, we seek candidates with experience teaching finance at the bachelor and master levels, offering high-quality and innovative instruction. During the tenure-track, you will teach electives, supervise theses, and contribute to program development. Contributions to doctoral training and the development of research-based, student-activating teaching methods are expected. Most courses are taught in English, so excellent command of written and spoken English is required.

At Leuphana, we value the university as an educational community. You are expected to support our mission in research, teaching, and knowledge transfer, creating social impact. You should have a clear plan for contributing to our interdisciplinary research profile and collaborating with colleagues at the Institute of Management, Accounting, and Finance, the Center for Sustainability Management, and other stakeholder groups.

Formal requirements include a university degree and PhD in a relevant discipline, teaching aptitude, and the ability to conduct independent research, demonstrated by the quality of your PhD.

The position is initially limited to three years (W1), with the possibility of extension for another three years following positive evaluation, leading to a permanent W2 professorship after six years.

Leuphana fosters an open academic community that encourages interdisciplinary dialogue and addresses societal challenges. We promote diversity, gender equality, and liberal education, aiming to prepare students to think critically and act responsibly.

We are an equal opportunities employer and especially invite qualified women to apply. For more information, contact Prof. Dr. Paul Drews at

Applicants should submit two PDF files: a) motivation letter, CV, publication list, academic degrees, recent course evaluations (max. 3); b) three most relevant publications or working papers. Also, include the completed application form in Excel. Applications should be sent by email with the keyword “Sustainable Finance” (W1 TT W2) to or by mail by June 1, 2025. Physical documents will not be returned.

By applying, you consent to data processing for recruitment purposes. Please review our Data Protection Notice for Applicants.
