The position

As the Director Medical Affairs Rare Disease / Department Manager, your main role will be to provide medical-scientific support for rare diseases and associated medical information for internal and external customers. You will initiate and implement medical-scientific and strategic projects, collaborate on pipeline development, and support market launches of new products in rare diseases, especially in hemostaseology. This position reports to the Vice President Clinical Medical and Regulatory (CMR), Germany, and involves managing a team of 6 to 8 members.

Based in dynamic Germany, you will have the opportunity to thrive in a fast-paced and ever-evolving environment.

Your main responsibilities include, but are not limited to :

  • Providing current medical-scientific expertise to support products in the market, business ideas, and strategic aspects of the Germany region, including pipeline development and market access processes (e.g., PDP, AMNOG).
  • Establishing and executing the scientific communication strategy for rare diseases, including communication plans across clinical trial phases. Contributing to clinical trials and real-world evidence (RWE) plans.
  • Driving Scientific Recruitment and Retention (SRR) activities by identifying and establishing relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) and incorporating patient voices through Advisory Boards.
  • Defining and executing publication strategies, including RWE publications, and providing medical education to Healthcare Professionals (HCPs) via scientific meetings and symposia. Building strategic relationships with International Professional Associations (IPAs) globally and nationally.
  • Providing medical guidance through training and internal communications. Supporting the implementation of digital interaction and information systems within the CMR areas.

Qualifications

  • A university degree in a relevant area, such as MD, Pharma D, or Ph.D. in Life Sciences.
  • Several years of professional experience in the research-based pharmaceutical industry, particularly in medical-pharmaceutical information.
  • Strong leadership skills and sound medical-scientific expertise in medicine, especially in hemostaseology and endocrinology.
  • Proficiency in English and German is essential; good analytical skills and entrepreneurial thinking are advantageous.
  • Strong project management and digital communication skills, with experience working in cross-functional teams.
