- To retain assigned top customers and nurture those key relationships over time.
- He/She will become a strategic partner and advisor to the client, discovering new opportunities to work together for mutual benefit and sustain accelerated growth targets.
- In order to maintain and expand business and relationships with significant clients, he/she needs to work in close association with various Connectivity & Products locations, business departments, and client stakeholders.
- Business development will be done through existing clients and by identifying potential customers within the SL industry. He/She will work to develop a network of contacts to attract new clients, research market opportunities, and oversee growth projects.
Primary Responsibilities
- Establish plans for the development of the assigned Softline’s accounts, in conjunction with relevant parties (especially overseas affiliates), to ensure growth of “share of wallet”.
- Engage in strategic planning, sales management, and prospecting for new clients to help grow the business.
- Support the implementation of the global business strategy to develop new Softline business streams with international colleagues (e.g., sustainability services, performance clothing, PPE).
- Work with local operational managers to identify growth opportunities in the UK testing business and develop strategies to secure this business.
- Ensure international reporting requirements are met and participate as a member of the international core Softline team as required.
- Contribute to the wider development of the existing business as a full member of the Europe SL team, establishing key relationships internally and externally, and sharing market and competition intelligence.
- Always exercise safe behavior, prioritizing health and safety for yourself, colleagues, and clients, in line with company policies.
- Ensure full compliance with SGS’s Code of Integrity & Professional Conduct and promote SGS’s Equality & Diversity policy.
Qualifications

- Bachelor\’s degree in a relevant field (e.g., business administration, social sciences, sustainability).
- Good understanding of international textiles/garments business and experience in the Softlines market, ideally with retail and specialized Softlines focus, including textiles/garments/apparel/fashion/footwear, along with industry standards, regulations, and best practices.
- Previous experience in a customer-facing or customer care role.
- Previous experience in business development.
- Fluency in both English and German.
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to manage business relationships, with comprehensive knowledge of international inspection/testing and Softlines global services.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with clients and industry peers.
- Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, focused on results and continuous improvement.
- Ability to stay organized, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Good knowledge of SGS’s international structures and activities.
- Understanding of the different Softlines activities categorized by SGS.
