Head Accounting

Are you a dedicated and knowledgeable accounting professional seeking to make an impact in a dynamic team?

For our Accounting department in Zurich, we are looking for a person to take on the Head of Accounting role for Bank Vontobel AG, Zurich.

What would your role be?

1. Be responsible for the timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual statutory financial statements of Bank Vontobel AG in accordance with ReIV-FINMA and IFRS (for group reporting purposes).
2. Act as a key business stakeholder in system upgrades, migrations, and changes to ensure that the accounting and financial reporting needs are considered and met.
3. Maintain and enhance the Finance internal control systems and ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal standards.
4. Collaborate with other departments within the Vontobel Group to streamline processes and improve financial reporting processes.
5. Coordinate external audits by preparing required documentation, responding to audit inquiries, and acting as a key contact for external auditors.
6. Contribute significantly to the global implementation of SAP S/4HANA for Vontobel Group, including designing future-oriented finance processes and controls.
7. Participate in significant initiatives such as M&A, treasury projects, or regulatory-driven change programs.
8. Drive digital transformation initiatives within the accounting function by identifying opportunities for optimization through automation, AI, and process reengineering.

What are we looking for?

• Higher education with specialization in finance and accounting (e.g., University Degree, Diploma as Certified Expert in Accounting, or an equivalent qualification).
• At least 8 years of leadership experience in Accounting within a Swiss bank, with the ability to motivate and lead a team.
• Strong knowledge of Swiss Banking Law and IFRS.
• Technical proficiency in SAP (ideally S/4HANA) with a high level of IT affinity.
• Strong technical understanding of interface concepts with peripheral systems (e.g., Avaloq, ePOCA, Workday, Concur, Basware).
• Excellent analytical and conceptual skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
• A high sense of responsibility, initiative, and experience handling sensitive data.
• Structured, independent, and precise working methods with a high demand for quality.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, in English and German.
