A global Japanese trading company is seeking an experienced and proactive Logistics General Manager to join their team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in logistics and fleet management, with a strong focus on team leadership and operational efficiency. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with senior management, including the President and Vice President, to develop strategic plans and drive cost-saving initiatives. It’s possible that the position may be relocated to Berlin in the future, so willingness to relocate to Berlin at a later stage would be needed.
TYPE: Permanent, full-time with 6 months probationary period
WORKING HOURS: 9:00-18:00, Monday to Friday
SALARY: €90,000 pa (including 13 months allowance) DOE, plus travel fee
START: TBD
LOCATION: Frankfurt, Germany with occasional business trips to Berlin
RESPONSIBILITIES:
– Manage and lead a team of over 30 logistics members, including Fleet Managers and Warehouse Managers, ensuring smooth operations across all logistics activities
– Oversee human resources management at the operational level, preventing staff shortages, especially during peak vacation periods
– Collaborate closely with the Board Members (President, Vice President) to develop and execute strategic plans, cost-reduction strategies, and continuous improvements in logistics processes
– Currently, the primary mode of transport is truck-based, with a warehouse located in Frankfurt
– Ensure high operational standards and timely delivery while maintaining a safe working environment
IDEAL CANDIDATE:
– At least 10 years’ experience as a Logistics Manager level of role
– Native-level proficiency in German and business-level proficiency in English is required
– Experience in team management and the implementation of WMS, TMS or other logistics systems are an advantage
– Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a large team
– Willingness to relocate to Berlin in the future, if required
– Willingness to travel to Berlin for training and business needs
– Flexibility to actively participate in operational activities and provide hands-on support with the team when necessary
