Data Architect
The main department is responsible for system and software engineering in the newly aligned Multi Domain Solutions (MDS) division.
We are seeking an experienced Data Architect to strategically evolve our data infrastructure and lay the foundation for modern AI-supported applications in complex defense systems.
Your Responsibilities:
- Developing and implementing scalable, secure, and robust data architecture for software-defined defense systems
- Building and designing data platforms, data lakes, data warehouses, and real-time data streams (streaming)
- Defining standards for data modeling, data quality, metadata management, and governance
- Supporting data scientists, AI teams, and software developers with efficient and accessible data structures
- Selecting, integrating, and optimizing data management tools (e.g., Apache Kafka, Spark, Flink, Hadoop, Snowflake, Databricks)
- Designing and implementing security and access policies in line with military IT requirements (e.g., SLS, ISO 27001, ITAR)
- Collaborating with system and software architects to ensure seamless integration into mission-critical sensor and data processing systems
- Advising internal stakeholders on data strategies, data architectures, and regulatory requirements
Your Profile:
- Degree in computer science, data engineering, information technology, or related fields
- Several years of professional experience as a Data Architect or in a comparable role within large data ecosystems
- Solid knowledge in data modeling, data engineering, and modern cloud and on-premise data architectures
- Experience with batch and streaming data processing, preferably in safety-critical environments (defense, aerospace, automotive)
- Knowledge in data governance, data protection, and regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001, MIL standards)
- Strategic thinking, high initiative, and a structured working style
- Excellent German and English skills, both written and spoken
