Job DescriptionJob SummaryThe Piping/Mech Constr. Field Engineer II is primarily responsible for providing technical engineering information to company supervision and crafts to ensure construction work associated with piping and mechanical aspects of a project complies with all engineering standards, codes, and specifications. Responsibilities include management of one or more technical disciplines related to piping systems and mechanical equipment within a medium-sized operation or project, including ensuring technical quality, conformance to corporate and departmental policies and procedures, and industry norms. Individuals may have line management responsibility for technical personnel in a variety of disciplines or responsibility for the technical quality of a variety of disciplines on a project.Essential FunctionsActively supports the company’s commitment to safety and its “Core Values”.Represents the company with high moral standards while adhering to the “Code of Business Conduct”.Provides technical and engineering support to the construction team.Assists in the administration, planning, coordination, and monitoring of the technical side of the project.Reviews and comments on constructability of design; conducts value-engineering functions.Maintains responsibility for resolving technical field issues and documenting final installations.Participates in managing distribution and control of all drawings and specifications for field use, including maintaining an accurate, up-to-date copy of all redlined and As-Built drawings on site.Manages the field RFI process and maintains RFI logs.Assists with preparing scopes of work for subcontractors and suppliers, including technical and commercial bid evaluations, and executes contracts/purchase orders.Assists in preparing change orders, reviewing subcontractor proposals for accuracy and scope conformance, and manages submittals for client/engineering approval.Maintains communication with subcontractors and vendors regarding RFIs, scope changes, and field resolutions.Coordinates engineering studies and assists discipline leads in solving engineering and design problems.Participates in creating and managing construction and installation work packages.Assists in systemizing project scope and preparing subsystem turnover packages.Supports mechanical completion punch list walk-downs and sign-offs with discipline superintendents and client representatives.Provides technical assistance to QA/QC, supply chain, subcontractors, HSE, and project control departments to ensure timely project execution and close-out.Works on special projects as assigned by the supervisor or senior construction engineer.Participates in collecting, maintaining, and communicating project constructability concepts and lessons learned.Performs other related duties as directed.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent; PE or EIT license preferred.Minimum 4 years of experience in heavy construction engineering, focusing on civil, concrete, or structural steel scopes.Knowledge of surveying techniques and equipment, design standards, and engineering practices.Experience with Advanced Workface Planning (AWP).Excellent communication skills, proficiency in MS Word, Excel, SharePoint.Ability to work overtime as required.Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple tasks under tight deadlines.Physical ability to perform field inspections, including walking, climbing, working at heights, and in confined spaces, and lifting up to 40 pounds.Ability to use PPE and be fit tested for respirators.EEO/M/F/Vets/Action EmployerWe are an Equal Opportunity/Affirmative Action employer.
