The department Klinik und Poliklinik für Psychiatrie und Psychotherapie on the Campus Innenstadt invites applications for the area Social Neuroscience on the 01.07.2025, in full time, for a Postdoctoral Researcher Position in Social Cognitive Neuroscience, Psychology, or Data Science (m/f/d)Klinik und Poliklinik für Psychiatrie und PsychotherapieScope of dutiesConduct and support interdisciplinary research at the intersection of cognitive neuroscience, psychology, and portable technologySupport data analysis, method development, and clinical collaborations; Specifically, apply and analyse data from portable EEG (potentially fNIRS), portable eye-tracking, physiological wearables, computer vision, and related areasDevelop and implement advanced analytical approaches using programming and data science tools (e.g. Python, R)Co-supervise and mentor PhD, MD, Master's, and Bachelor's studentsContribute to publications and grant applications to further advance research in the fieldDevelop your own research ideas, with the possibility of starting to build your own teamPotential for Habilitation, an advanced qualification in the German academic system that enables independent teaching and can serve as a pathway to professorshipOur requirementsYou have a PhD in cognitive neuroscience, psychology, data science, engineering or a related field.You have good quantitative skills and programming skills (e.g. Python, R).You have experience with portable technology, digital phenotyping, wearable sensors and/or computer vision methods.You demonstrate an interest in clinical and translational research and the ability to work closely with clinicians.You demonstrate fluency in English (knowledge of German is not required, but a willingness to learn basic German is an advantage).You are a proactive thinker with independent problem-solving skills and the ability to learn new methodologies as required.You have strong communication skills, especially when supervising students and working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment.You are familiar with technological challenges and innovative research methods.Our offerThis is a very competitive position at the E14 level, aligned with German public sector pay scales, offered within an excellent research environment.Flexible working arrangements are available in a dynamic and supportive research setting.There are opportunities to shape the role and contribute to multiple research projects.Ample scope is provided for developing your own project ideas, supporting academic independence.Several funding opportunities for postdoctoral researchers are offered by the University and the Medical Faculty, such as seed funding for new projects.There is potential to pursue a Habilitation, representing a step toward independent academic leadership.In addition we offer further education and training, a company pension scheme, childcare services, mobile work (if suitable), a job ticket, discounts and staff accommodation (if available).Disabled persons will be preferentially considered in case of equal qualification.
