About this opportunity
As the Senior Supervisor – Road Maintenance, you will oversee and manage road construction works, ensuring they are completed efficiently, safely, and to the highest quality standards. You will play a critical role in supervising work gangs, planning and improving work delivery methods. The position is based in Boonah, but you may be required to work from any of Council’s offices or facilities within the Scenic Rim.

- Manage and control work gangs to execute a range of construction and maintenance projects.
- Supervise civil construction projects, ensuring effective operation and maintenance.
- Develop work methods and set outcomes for others, ensuring clarity and efficiency.
- Ensure the security and optimal condition of all Council vehicles and equipment used by work gangs.
- Assist in the on-the-job training of subordinate employees, including delivering toolbox talks.
- Continuously plan and improve construction and maintenance project methods.
- Review and evaluate procedures and techniques utilised by work gangs to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
- Monitor the standard of completed projects to ensure high-quality performance.
- Handle planning and reporting requirements associated with civil construction and maintenance projects.
- Monitor expenditure to ensure budget compliance and advise Technical Officers and/or Works Engineers of significant variations.
- Assess and review performance and work standards of all relevant personnel, advising Works Engineers of substandard performance.
- Provide advice to the Works Coordinator on training needs of subordinate personnel.
- Comply with Council policies, procedures, and instructions to deliver quality and safe services.
- Maintain accountability and appropriate use of information systems, ensuring compliance with record-keeping requirements.
- Take reasonable care for your own health, safety, and wellbeing, and take reasonable care to protect the health, safety, and wellbeing of others in accordance with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011.
About you…
- Advanced Certificate in Civil Construction Supervision or significant experience in managing road maintenance and construction works.
- Current Queensland C Class driver’s license.
- Ability to manage projects, interpret construction and maintenance specifications, and plans.
- Effective use of plant and human resources.
- Basic computer skills for planning and coordination works, and expenditure recording and monitoring.
- Proven leadership and management skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
