Postdoctoral Researcher in Organic Light-emitting Devices (OLEDs)

Empa - Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology

Dübendorf, Switzerland

You will join an interdisciplinary SNSF Sinergia research project involving three Swiss partner institutions. The project aims to explore plasmonic enhancement of near-infrared (NIR)-emitting organic light-emitting devices (OLEDs) and to advance the understanding and performance of next-generation NIR optoelectronic devices. You will become part of a strong and highly interdisciplinary research environment, bringing together expertise in theory, nanoparticle science, OLED technology, and organic chemistry. You will work closely with two ongoing PhD projects focusing on OLED science and chemical synthesis, providing an excellent opportunity for scientific exchange and collaboration across disciplines.

Your tasks

  • Fabrication, optimization, and characterization of NIR-emitting OLED devices
  • Close collaboration and active scientific exchange with project partners
  • Analysis, interpretation, and documentation of experimental results
  • Preparation and publication of scientific articles in peer-reviewed journals
  • Presentation of research results at international conferences and scientific meetings

Your profile

  • PhD in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, or a related field
  • Strong background in OLEDs, organic electronics, optoelectronics, or photonics
  • Hands-on experience with fabrication and characterization of thin-film optoelectronic devices
  • Experience with NIR-emitting devices and/or plasmonics/nanophotonics is highly desirable
  • Strong interest in interdisciplinary research and collaborative projects
  • Motivated, proactive, and enthusiastic mindset
