1912 Hotels is a growing European hotel company operating an increasingly diverse portfolio of hotels across several European markets.
As our portfolio continues to grow, we are looking for an experienced Controller (m/f/d) to strengthen our Finance team. The position can be based in Hamburg, Vienna or Marbella, depending on the candidate.
This is a broad Finance role combining hotel controlling, financial analysis, forecasting, treasury and cash management.
You will work closely with our CFO, Finance team, General Managers and operational and commercial teams across the portfolio. Your responsibility is not simply to report numbers, but to understand what is driving them, identify risks and opportunities and help translate financial information into better business decisions.
Your Responsibilities
Controlling & Performance Management
- Prepare and analyse monthly management reporting for our hotels
- Analyse hotel P&Ls and identify key performance drivers, deviations, risks and opportunities
- Coordinate and challenge monthly forecasts together with General Managers and department heads
- Support and coordinate the annual budgeting process
- Monitor revenue, payroll, operating expenses, GOP/NOP and other relevant hotel KPIs
- Perform actual vs. budget, forecast and prior-year variance analyses
- Translate financial results into clear operational recommendations and actions
- Prepare financial analyses and management information for the CFO, CEO and Executive Team
- Work closely with our BI team to continuously develop reporting, dashboards and data quality
- Support business cases, investment calculations and ad-hoc financial analyses
Treasury & Cash Management
- Prepare and maintain short- and medium-term liquidity forecasts
- Monitor cash positions across the hotel portfolio and operating companies
- Analyse actual and expected cash movements and identify potential liquidity requirements at an early stage
- Support the management of payment flows, bank accounts and cash allocation
- Monitor working capital, including receivables, payables and other cash-relevant balance sheet positions
- Support the planning and coordination of intercompany funding and liquidity requirements
- Assist with banking relationships, guarantees and other treasury-related topics
- Improve cash visibility and treasury processes across the organisation
- Support the CFO with financing, liquidity and other treasury-related projects
Projects & Development
- Support hotel openings, takeovers, integrations and conversions from a Finance perspective
- Help establish controlling, reporting and cash-management processes for newly acquired hotels
- Participate in Finance projects and continuous process improvements
- Support the further development and professionalisation of the Finance function as the portfolio grows
What We Are Looking For
We are looking for someone who combines strong financial expertise with a genuine understanding of the hotel business.
Previous professional experience within the hotel or hospitality industry is required for this position.
You should bring:
- A university degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Hospitality Management or a comparable field
- Relevant professional experience in Controlling, Finance or FP&A within the hotel or hospitality industry
- A strong understanding of hotel P&Ls and key hospitality performance indicators
- Sound knowledge of budgeting, forecasting and variance analysis
- Experience with liquidity planning, cash management or treasury-related activities
- Strong analytical and numerical skills
- Advanced Excel skills and confidence working with large datasets
- Experience with BI and reporting tools is advantageous
- Strong written and spoken English; additional European languages are an advantage
- The ability to communicate financial information clearly to operational colleagues and General Managers
- A structured, accurate and hands-on approach
- The confidence to challenge numbers and assumptions rather than simply report them
- Willingness to travel within our European hotel portfolio
What Awaits You
At 1912 Hotels, you will become part of an entrepreneurial and rapidly growing European hotel company.
You can expect:
- A broad Finance position covering both controlling and treasury
- Direct cooperation with the CFO and senior management
- Responsibility across an international hotel portfolio
- Close interaction with our General Managers and hotel teams
- Exposure to hotel operations, commercial performance and financial management
- Involvement in new hotel openings, takeovers and strategic projects
- The opportunity to actively develop our controlling, treasury and reporting structures
- Short decision-making processes and significant individual responsibility
- International exposure across our European portfolio
- The flexibility to be based in Hamburg, Vienna or Marbella
The Way We Work
Finance at 1912 Hotels is not a back-office reporting function.
We expect our Finance team to understand the business behind the numbers. That means looking at a hotel P&L and understanding what is happening operationally, challenging forecasts when assumptions do not make sense and maintaining a clear view of how financial performance translates into cash.
You may spend one day analysing why a hotel’s payroll or operating costs are above forecast, the next reviewing liquidity requirements across the portfolio and another supporting the financial setup of a new hotel.
We expect you to take ownership, ask questions and follow topics through to resolution.
If something does not make sense, investigate it.
If you identify a risk, make it visible.
And if you see an opportunity to improve financial performance or cash flow, help us turn it into action.
Why 1912 Hotels?
You will join a Finance organisation that is developing alongside a growing international hotel portfolio.
The position gives you exposure beyond traditional controlling: from hotel performance and forecasting to liquidity, treasury and new hotel projects.
For someone who understands hotels, enjoys working with numbers and wants to take broader financial responsibility, this is an opportunity to have a visible impact on how our business performs and grows.
Join us in Hamburg, Vienna or Marbella and become part of the Finance team behind 1912 Hotels.
