What this role is about
Real data platforms for established companies, plus the freedom and pace of an early-stage startup. If you want both, you are at the right place! You'll work directly with us - JJ and Basti, the two founders - and your engineering will shape both our clients' platforms and our own company.
Your overall goal is to build the cloud data foundations for our clients: data platforms, pipelines and infrastructure on Azure for established construction companies. At the same time, you get the flexibility of a startup. New topics and projects come up regularly, whether as our own products or for clients, and you can help shape them.
- Build data platforms. Implement data warehouses and data platforms on Azure, including ingestion, ETL pipelines and data models, and help shape the architecture together with us.
- Own the cloud infrastructure. Set up and manage Azure infrastructure as code with Terraform or Bicep, and keep it secure, maintainable and ready to grow.
- Use AI as a multiplier. Your expertise drives the work, and AI helps you implement faster. Even when AI writes much of the code, you fully understand what is built and how.
- Shape how we build. Help develop our internal AI coding harness, the setup that keeps our AI-assisted development current with best practices and aligned with our own and our clients' standards and processes.
Who we are
2auf3 is an early-stage company at the intersection of AI and construction.
With 2auf3, we're looking for new digital solutions for the construction industry. Alongside that, we run concrete projects for construction companies: building data platforms, planning and validating AI products, shaping digital strategy, and making sure the effort pays off in business terms.
JJ and Basti have both worked in tech for many years, engineering software, developing AI, and shipping products that made a measurable difference in organisations. We've implemented and led data and cloud projects like these ourselves, so you'll work with people who understand the technical details, not just the deadlines.
You might be a good fit if
- You're an experienced data or cloud engineer (medior or senior) with hands-on experience in real data engineering or cloud projects
- You know Azure well and have built on it. This is a must, as we and all our clients work on Azure
- You work confidently with Terraform and Python, understand ETL and data engineering concepts, and have designed and built APIs yourself
- You think in architecture patterns and use AI coding tools to implement your designs, not to replace them
- You manage yourself: you structure your own work, see the bigger business picture, and know which functionality matters and which is optional
- You know when a conversation needs technical depth and when it needs the big picture, and you can deliver both.
- You speak German at least at B1 level (our clients work in German) and communicate clearly in English
- You're in or near Munich and can be in the office at least 1–2 days a week
- You're available at least 4 days a week, full-time preferred, as an employee or freelance
Beyond that, there's no fixed tool list. Experience with Microsoft Fabric is welcome but not required, since most specifics come with the work. What matters is that you understand the concepts and have applied them in real projects.
