The Impact You Will Make in this Role

As a Dangerous Goods Packaging Leader (m/f/*), you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative and diverse people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by:

  • Strategic Direction: Interprets industry trends, customer requirements, and business objectives to define guidelines/methods. Initiate and approve projects to continuously improve Dangerous Goods packaging efficiency, competitiveness and compliance.
  • Management Responsibility: Determines priorities, timetables and assigns resources/tasks. Accountable for Dangerous Goods packaging activities and results
  • Regulatory DG Compliance: Ensure compliance with dangerous goods packaging regulations and standards (i.e., ADR, IATA, ICAO, IMDG, DOT, etc.)
  • Advocacy and Influence: Determine alignment with DG Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs) and standard-setting organizations to collaborate on issues to promote responsible Dangerous Goods requirements
  • Package Testing Process, DG: Ensure compliance with dangerous goods testing requirements
  • Training and Development, DG: Develop and implement training programs for employees involved in the transport of dangerous goods
  • Risk Management: Monitor and identify potential risks that could affect projects, processes, and overall business operations. Develop and implement strategies to minimize the impact of risks, including contingency planning and resource allocation.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Ensure stakeholders understand existing and new dangerous goods packaging requirements

Your Skills and Expertise

To set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M is looking for candidates who must have the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Packaging Science, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in the Dangerous Goods transport, or related space
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant regulations and standards (e.g., ADR, IATA, IMDG Code, DOT).

Additional qualifications that could help you succeed even further in this role include:

  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Certification in Dangerous Goods Transportation, preferred

Travel: May include up to 10% domestic/international
