POSITION SUMMARY

The Health Economics and Market Access (HEMA) (Sr) Specialist, EMEA is supporting patient access for Abiomed's products, services, and solutions across EMEA. Their work supports Field HEMA Managers across EMEA who are directly engaging customers to enable patient access and lower economic barriers within their regions of responsibility. This position generates economic evidence, claims and materials in support of the entire EMEA region and collaborates closely with the Assoc. Director Reimbursement and Market Access for priority setting, project scoping and execution. It also works in partnership with the Global HEMA and associated functions in Abiomed and JnJ MedTech to adapt existing evidence for different regions or source needed data. Adaptation of Global Value Dossiers and Summaries also fall within the responsibilities of this position.

Developing economic evidence of value includes partnering internally using existing Abiomed clinical trial, claims analysis, other Real-World Evidence (RWE) analysis, economic modelling and the associated publications and presentations in clinical and economic evidence fora. Despite occasional travel within EMEA, this is mainly an office-based position with minimal travel requirements. The role additionally includes partnership with other Abiomed/JnJ strategic functions to inform overall Commercial and Product Strategy such as early economic value assessment, value of information analysis and clinical trial design. The role will be working in partnership with JnJ MedTech HEMA EMEA and Global teams.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Partnering for the development of Economic Evidence Generation including:
  • Clinical Trial Data reviews to fill gaps in evidence/knowledge base;
  • Real-World Evidence (RWE) generation in alignment with strategic evidence plan;
  • Economic Modelling (Cost-Minimization, Cost-Effectiveness, Cost-Consequence, Cost-Utility, Budget Impact Analysis and Budget Impact)
  • Adaptation and/or Generation/Maintenance of Evidence Tools including:
    • Value Dossiers (including Health technology Assessment's support);
    • Value Summaries;
    • Digital Tools to Communicate Economic Evidence and Related Content
  • Development of regionally approved HEMA tools, translating complex messages into simple statements that can easily be articulated by the sales force.
  • Dissemination of HEMA tools to ensure local implementation to appropriate audiences.
  • Functional and Technical Competencies:

    • Understanding the Internal and External Environment: High level of expertise leveraging Macro, HTA and internal environments of the EMEA region.
    • Applied Skills and Technical Knowledge: Leading knowledge of Critical Analysis and Health Economics, theory, techniques and how to apply them at country level.
    • Persuasive Communication: Strong competence in negotiation skills and communication upstream and downstream. Leading level in written communication.
    • Funding Acumen: Comprehensive knowledge of funding and reimbursement mechanisms in EMEA region. Applies expertise in developing appropriate market access strategy for the region.
    • Strategic Thinking: Applies expert geographic knowledge to translate global value proposition into locally applied value messages. Provide input into evidence generation and strategic planning for the region.

    Job Qualifications:

    • Excellent Knowledge of English required; Additional Languages a Plus.
    • M.D, Pharm.D, Bachelor's Degree or equivalent in related field (Health Economics, Medical Statistics, Operational Research, Economics, Life Sciences) with 3-8 years of relevant work experience within the healthcare industry (with medical device experience preferred).
    • Postgraduate Qualification in Health Economics, Health Policy, Medical Statistics, Epidemiology, Outcomes Research, Operational Research, Data Science or Related Disciplines preferred.
    • Proven experience in Health Technology Assessment (local or EU submission).
    • Proven experience in Economic Evidence Generation and Publication.
    • Proven expertise in developing local market access strategies to drive business.
    • Knowledge and experience of health economics, evidence, and dissemination.
    • Ability to understand business strategy; translate it into solutions that support the company's business goals.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, interpersonal, and analytical skills required.
    • Ability to communicate and relate well with key opinion leaders and clinical personnel required.
    • Track record of working effectively to shape the market and influence key decision makers.
    • Ability to deal with ambiguity and work independently with self-motivated attitude.
    • Strong work ethic and high level of personal integrity and accountability.
    • Able to manage multiple demands, with a systematic approach to prioritization.
    • Strong team player and communicator who works cross-functionally with experience of working successfully in matrix environments.
    • Sound MS Office knowledge.
