Our client is a leading international financial institution based in Basel, offering a global and collaborative working environment. As a Payroll Officer, you will manage payroll operations, social security, and tax activities for employees and pensioners, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and continuous process improvement.

Description

Payroll Operations

  • Manage and review end-to-end payroll processes, ensuring accuracy and compliance
  • Validate salary adjustments, benefits, and pension-related changes
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies in a timely manner
  • Ensure accurate and timely payments to employees and pensioners
  • Prepare payroll-related accounting entries and support monthly reconciliations in collaboration with Finance
  • Act as the primary point of contact for payroll-related queries

Social Security & Tax

  • Administer Swiss social security accounts (e.g. AHV/ALV) in line with legal requirements
  • Support employees with tax-related queries in coordination with internal stakeholders and external advisors
  • Contribute to annual tax return support processes

Process Improvement & Documentation

  • Review and document payroll processes, identifying opportunities for improvement
  • Implement best practices and enhance efficiency in payroll operations
  • Maintain accurate payroll records in line with internal policies

Stakeholder & Operational Support

  • Collaborate closely with HR, Finance, and external banking partners
  • Provide ad hoc support within the payroll team and cover during absences
  • Oversee processes related to employee financial accounts and related transactions

Profile

  • +5 years of experience in payroll operations
  • Strong expertise in multi-currency payroll environments
  • Solid understanding of Swiss payroll regulations (including social security and tax)
  • Hands‑on experience with HR systems (ideally Workday)
  • Proven experience in reconciliation, reporting, and audit processes
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with high attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills in English (German is a plus)
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced environment
