The Business Development Manager (BD Manager) assigned to the Geoscience and Forensic Science market segments plays a pivotal role in defining and executing strategic activities across sales, product development, marketing, and customer engagement. The position is global and requires deep market insight, continuous industry community interaction through conferences, trade shows and virtual events, and close collaboration with sales, marketing and product teams.
Responsibilities
- Manage worldwide market‑segment activities (Sales, Business Development, Segment Sales Application and Segment Marketing) in cooperation with HUB Managers, Bruker AXS Marketing and Product Managers, reporting to the Business Development Director.
- Co‑manage the development of direct and indirect sales activities globally for all Bruker AXS products in the assigned market segments:
- Support decisions on sales lead and opportunity ownership, using CRM data.
- Define adaptation of the standard Bruker AXS sales process to specific market‑segment requirements.
- Provide discount approval support for segment‑specific items and opportunities.
- Execute sales strategies based on identified successful applications (voice of customer).
- Provide sales forecasts for the market segment.
- Manage sales application activities globally:
- Supervise application development for the segment.
- Prioritize and communicate sales application activities (sample testing, demos, notes).
- Plan and execute segment‑specific workshops and customer events worldwide.
- Manage segment marketing activities globally:
- Define market TAM and SAM by region and product line.
- Provide competitive intelligence to the Bruker AXS team.
- Create, distribute and internally train on segment‑specific sales support documents and collaterals.
- Decide with Bruker AXS Marketing on global marketing activities.
- Collaborate with Bruker AXS Service on service concepts and pricing.
- Support establishment and management of segment‑specific price lists.
- Manage business development activities globally for the segment:
- Identify successful applications and set up internal communication and training strategies for each.
- Develop marketing and sales strategies for identified applications.
- Identify and develop new sales channels and key accounts.
- Implement segment‑focused inside‑sales campaigns with application, product and marketing managers:
- Define ideal customers.
- Create campaign materials.
- Manage inside‑sales training.
- Support customer‑facing tasks and follow‑up activities.
- Act as Key Account Manager when assigned:
- Maintain regular HQ visits and interactions.
- Provide product introductions and discuss application, service, and roadmap needs in close collaboration with product, application and service managers.
- Establish and manage segment‑specific price lists.
- Build strong relationships across all levels.
- Support local account activities:
- Visit major subsidiaries with local sales managers.
- Decide on sales lead and opportunity ownership globally.
- Maintain internal communication:
- Inform global sales team through calls and meetings and implement efficient communication strategies.
- Keep KAM reference record up to date (meeting minutes, organigram, global opportunities).
- Coordinate with other internal functions to ensure adequate customer focus.
