Job Description

We are seeking dedicated Field Machinists responsible for the repair of gas and steam turbines. The ideal candidate will have experience using manual mills and lathes, as well as setting up and operating them effectively. Additionally, expertise in TIG welding is required to repair diaphragms. This position demands critical thinking, as repairs vary and often lack specific directions or manuals. Successful candidates should be hard workers who are eager to learn and grow in their roles.

Responsibilities

• Repair gas and steam turbines using manual mills and lathes.
• Set up and operate manual mills and lathes efficiently.
• Perform TIG welding to repair diaphragms.
• Adapt to varying repair scenarios requiring critical thinking.
• Work extended hours during busy seasons.

Essential Skills

• Proficiency in TIG welding.
• Experience with CNC machines and manual machines.
• Ability to operate manual lathe and manual mill.
• Knowledge of vertical machining and horizontal lathes.
• Experience with vertical lathe operations.

Work Environment

The work environment involves working heavy hours during busy seasons, with shifts from 6am to 4:30pm for day shift and 2:30pm to 12:30am for night shift, Monday through Saturday, with occasional Sundays and weekends off. The atmosphere fosters a culture of hard work, learning, and critical thinking.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of St. Louis, MO.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $52.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
