My client is shaping the future of electric mobility by building cutting-edge EV charging infrastructure and intelligent energy solutions. They are committed to accelerating the transition to renewable energy and a sustainable transport ecosystem. As part of their growth, they are looking for a Data Engineer to join the team and help design, scale, and optimise data platforms powering next-generation EV charging services.
Role Overview
You will be the technical backbone for data engineering initiatives, working closely with Data Science and Data Analytics teams to deliver robust, scalable data pipelines and platforms. This is a hands-on role that combines deep technical expertise with industry experience in EV charging or renewable energy infrastructure. You’ll work with modern tools like Databricks, Azure, Kafka, and Power BI to ensure our data ecosystem supports real-time insights, advanced analytics, and AI-driven innovation.
Responsibilities
- Architect, build, and optimise scalable data pipelines and ETL processes on Azure using Databricks and Apache Spark .
- Manage data ingestion from streaming (Kafka) and batch sources, ensuring data quality, security, and compliance.
- Partner with Data Scientists to operationalise AI/ML models and integrate them into production systems.
- Develop and maintain SQL -based data models, views, and stored procedures for analytics and reporting.
- Collaborate with the BI team to enable insightful reporting in Power BI .
- Implement workflow orchestration and automation using Airflow .
- Support renewable energy and EV charging domain-specific data use cases (e.g., energy load forecasting, charging station optimisation).
Skills & Experience
- Strong expertise in Databricks , Apache Spark , Python , and SQL .
- Proven experience building data pipelines and platforms in Azure cloud environments.
- Hands-on experience with Kafka for streaming data ingestion.
- Experience with BI/reporting tools, preferably Power BI .
- Background in the renewable energy or EV charging infrastructure sector
- Ability to work cross-functional with Data Science teams, with exposure to AI/ML concepts.
- Excellent communication skills in English ; German is a plus.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with Airflow or other workflow orchestration tools.
- Prior involvement in projects within the energy or mobility sector.
- Experience leading projects or mentoring team members.
