AI Futures are partnered exclusively with the most exciting AI startup in Germany to find a Founding Engineer. Funded by Tier 1 VCs the company are developing ultra-low-power acoustic sensors paired with a purpose-built foundation model trained to interpret non-speech sound. Together, this hardware and AI stack can pick out, categorize, and pinpoint acoustic events as they happen from spotting drones in a contested airspace to catching hidden air leaks on a factory floor.

The Role:
- Design and develop the core statistical and Bayesian algorithms behind acoustic detection, classification, and sensor fusion
- Build probabilistic models for multi-sensor fusion (e.g. Bayesian filtering, Kalman/particle filters, uncertainty quantification) to combine noisy acoustic and sensor data into reliable detections
- Formulate and validate mathematical models for signal classification and swarm-level inference under uncertainty
- Translate real-world field data into rigorous statistical evaluation
- Work closely with ML/edge engineers to hand off validated algorithms for hardware deployment
The Candidate:
- Strong mathematical foundation: probability theory, Bayesian inference, statistical estimation, stochastic processes
- Comfortable formulating problems from first principles, not just fine-tuning existing architectures
