The company
A Munich humanoid robotics start-up building a robot that does useful work at a viable cost. The team is moving from prototype to production, and this is the moment to shape the architecture that will go into series production.
The role
As Head of System, you own the robot as a complete system. You define how mechanics, electronics, embedded software, control and AI fit together, and you make the architectural calls that decide whether the robot works reliably, can be built and can scale. You report directly to the founders and sit on the leadership team.
What you’ll own
- System architecture: kinematics, sensor placement, compute distribution and the interfaces between subsystems
- The mechanics-to-control loop: making sure hardware design and control performance are developed together, not handed over at the end
- AI-to-platform integration: working closely with the Chief AI Officer so learning-based capabilities run on real hardware
- Software and embedded leadership: setting technical direction across the software stack
- Team leadership: the Software Lead, Systems Engineering Lead and Robot Architect report to you
- Partnership with the Head of Hardware: keeping manufacturability, cost and industrialisation in step with system decisions
What you bring
- Senior technical leadership of complex robotic or mechatronic systems: humanoids, legged robots, mobile manipulators, cobots, exoskeletons, or comparable systems from automotive, AV or aerospace
- A track record of taking a system from prototype towards production (humanoid experience is a strong plus)
- Deep systems engineering skill: architecture, requirements, integration and verification across mechanical, electrical, embedded and software domains
- Enough hands-on control, embedded or robotics software background to lead engineers credibly and make trade-offs yourself
- Experience building and leading multi-disciplinary teams in a fast-moving environment
- Fluent English (German is a plus)
What’s on offer
- €200k+ base salary, 20% bonus and a meaningful VSOP (flex DOE)
- Ownership of the architecture of a humanoid at the defining stage of its development
- A seat at the leadership table, working directly with the founders
- A Munich base at the centre of Europe’s robotics ecosystem
