A leading financial services organisation in Munich is scaling its AI platform engineering function to support a growing pipeline of AI and ML use cases across insurance, asset management, and financial infrastructure.
This is a hands-on senior role for an engineer who thrives at the intersection of MLOps, cloud platform engineering, and production AI deployment.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
- Design, build, and maintain scalable MLOps and LLMOps pipelines covering model training, versioning, deployment, monitoring, and automated retraining.
- Own the AI platform infrastructure on Azure and/or AWS, including compute provisioning, feature stores, vector databases, and model registries.
- Deploy and operationalise LLM-based applications, RAG architectures, and agentic AI systems into production environments.
- Build and enforce CI/CD standards for ML workloads: automated testing, model validation pipelines, infrastructure as code, and release governance.
- Implement robust observability across the AI platform: model drift detection, data quality monitoring, latency tracking, and incident response workflows.
- Ensure platform architecture meets regulatory requirements relevant to financial services: model explainability, audit trails, RBAC, GDPR, and DORA compliance.
- Partner with Data Science teams to accelerate the path from model prototype to production, reducing time-to-value for AI initiatives.
- Contribute to platform standards, tooling decisions, and architectural reviews as a senior voice in the engineering team.
- WHAT WE LOOK FOR
Essential
- Strong hands-on MLOps experience: model deployment pipelines, experiment tracking (MLflow/W&B), model monitoring, and retraining workflows in production.
- Cloud platform depth on Azure (Azure ML, AKS, ADLS, Azure AI Studio) and/or AWS (Sage Maker, Glue, S3, EKS).
- Containerisation and orchestration expertise: Docker, Kubernetes, Helm, comfortable managing production ML workloads at scale.
- Solid Python engineering foundations: CI/CD pipelines (Git Lab/Git Hub Actions), infrastructure as code (Terraform or Bicep), API design, and distributed computing (Spark/Databricks).
- Experience working in or directly supporting a regulated environment such as financial services, insurance, or banking.
- Ability to communicate platform decisions clearly to both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders.
Nice to have
- Hands-on experience deploying LLMs, RAG pipelines, or agentic AI systems into enterprise production environments.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Fabric, One Lake, and the broader Microsoft data and AI ecosystem.
- Understanding of model risk management, model frameworks and AI governance in a regulated context.
- German language skills are a strong advantage for stakeholder engagement across the Munich-based organisation.
