With location in Munich the role requires close collaboration internally with underwriters, PCMs and other Product Leads as well as supporting functions and senior management and externally with key distribution partners.

You will play a pivotal role in assisting the Head of Property EMEA in the overall management of a key Profit Center in AIG EMEA:

  • Assisting Head of Property to lead and expand a USD1bio portfolio through continuously strengthening our value proposition and improving underwriting strategy, while maintaining and reinforcing broker and client relationships, as well as developing and updating product offering.
  • Supporting Head of Property to lead a diversified and cross-cultural team with approx. 100 underwriters, delivering sustainable profitable growth and managing all aspects of EMEA operation.
  • Setting strategic business and operational plans with the EMEA Leadership and International Property CUO, as well as Cluster PCMs to top and bottom-line growth.
  • Prioritizing and managing the complex functional alignment to deliver the successful execution of these plans and maximize company value, interacting with key support functions such as Engineering, CAT Management, Claims, Actuarial, Operations, Finance and Human Resources.
  • Ensuring Commercial Property is well-positioned to capitalize on emerging opportunities and actively participate in industry gatherings showcasing AIG’s capabilities.
  • Acting as EMEA underwriting referral point for Property

Role Responsibilities:

Strategic Planning and Execution

  • Work closely with the Head of Property, Global CUO Property and EMEA Leadership Team to develop and implement strategic plans and initiatives to propel the Property product and client segments into a profitable long-term and sustainable leadership position in the marketplace.
  • Analyze market trends, competitive landscape, and industry developments to identify opportunities for growth and business improvement.
  • Contribute to the development of policies, procedures, and guidelines that align with the company's values and purpose.
  • Support the Head of Property EMEA with product development and product launch

Broker Engagement and Pipeline Management

  • Working Closely with Property Cluster PCMs, CBEs and GMs to improve of Pipeline Management and Sales & Distribution process, aiming to increase conversion ratios in all segments, achieve renewal ratio targets and New Business growth.
  • Monitor and drive Global Broker performance, renewals and new business leveraging insights from improved Pipeline Management Governance and identifying areas of improvement
  • Foster Distribution diversification by building/enhancing framework to explore and facilitate other distribution channels, including alternative distribution growth opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain strong personal and professional relationships with key producers and clients and represent AIG EMEA Property in broker presentations/liaisons where required
  • Improve common practices for Market Intelligence, including monitoring competitor´s activities and market mapping

Portfolio Management & Operating Rhythm

  • EMEA underwriting referral point for Property
  • Assisting EMEA Property Head in portfolio management oversight and execution to drive growth and underwriting excellence across the property business by establishing and ensuring adherence to risk appetite, capacity deployment, standards and guidelines and ensure rating and pricing adequacy
  • Work closely with the Head of Property EMEA and Claims to find trends and execute remediation plans and establish strong relationships with PCMs & GMs to create mutual understanding of overall parameters and goals to drive effective execution thereof.
  • Work with actuaries to enhance Management Information shared timeously with the EMEA Property Team.
  • Work closely with Technical Rating Team on non-CAT and CAT pricing tool reviews
  • Contribute to and co-author of underwriting guidelines, bulletins and further underwriting related guardrails

Finance Management and Reporting

  • Coordination of 3 Year Plan, Budgets, Forecasts with FP&A, GMs and PCMs including leading regular production review meetings with EMEA Property Team.
  • Gathering and compiling the EMEA Property QBR inputs
  • Review financial reports and analyze financial data to support decision-making and resource allocation.

Operational Efficiency

  • Engage with SCUP/TOM working closely with PCMs, EMEA COO to proactively manage impacts of transformational projects in Property
  • Participate in related SCUP/TOM working groups, eg SCUP SteerCo, and engage with Country Partners and Super Users on related topics and projects
  • Constantly review progress and implementation of related improvements, sharing with the EMEA Property Team

Underwriting and Data Quality, Audit and Rating

  • Work closely with the Head of Property EMEA, PCMs and Actuarial team to assist with data collection, data accuracy and profit studies
  • Monthly validation of the rate change data provided by actuaries
  • Tracking and reconciling purchase of FAC RI and RI Connect
  • Coordinate data collection, validation and analysis including CAT Management in strong collaboration with the country PCMs
  • Oversight of the Audits in EMEA and support the teams providing perspective towards the audit team, sharing audit learnings and implementing lessons learned across the region
  • Demonstrate understanding of regulatory and compliance processes and actively participate in relevant governance committees and audits
  • Representing EMEA Property on Global Data Quality framework and assisting countries in adopting the framework.

Talent Management

  • Work together with Cluster PCMs, Global CUO and other departments to develop/improve/ update trainings and materials for our underwriters to succeed in fast changing market environment
  • Coordinate EMEA Property Underwriter Communication and Engagements

Board and Committees:

  • The Deputy Head of Property is part of the EMEA Property leadership team and will deputize to attend various committees to represent Property Line, e.g. AESA Insurance Risk Committee, AESA Risk Control Committee (RCC)

What we’re looking for:

Technical Skills and Expertise:

  • Broad based, EMEA insurance industry experience including exposure to a variety of EMEA markets, and experience of successfully managing operations with similar complexity and scale.
  • Proven track record of delivering profitable growth in a sizable and relevant Commercial Property line in European markets.
  • Strong Underwriting technical knowledge, with a proven track record of making sound judgment backed by strong analytical, quantitative, process and systems skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex problems, interpret operational needs, and develop integrated, creative solutions
  • Knowledge of EMEA market(s) segmentation, portfolio management, acquisition and distribution.
  • Ability to manage different and diverse portfolios, including identifying pricing, loss & market trends and setting proper guidance for main business drivers as well as guidelines for underwriting excellence
