PCM Commercial Property& Package (f/m/x) DACH

Location: in one of our AIG offices in Germany

The PCM Commercial Property& Package DACH is responsible for:

  • Develops, Monitors and influences the deployment of the Commercial Property& Package DACH underwriting strategy (including talent management) and P&L, product development, executing upon agreed local strategies within global guardrails
  • Manages key broker and client relationships across Germany, Austria and Switzerland
  • Driving the interaction with Distribution, Claims, Actuarial, Finance, Risk Engineering, Operations, Multinational and other functions to achieve product and company goals;
  • Supports the teams in making business decisions that leverage their expertise and experience in combination with powerful, analytical models;
  • Champions and drives continuous professional development of the Commercial Property& Package team across DACH.
  • Ensures the required standards of governance, systems and controls, and regulatory compliance are established and maintained, setting a strong framework and culture of risk management within Commercial Property& Package DACH, particularly cycle management;
  • Leads the development and ongoing maintenance of the Company’s customer centric and risk management culture;

Business Management

  • Develops / monitors / manages the Commercial Property& Package Underwriting Strategy for the DACH region
  • Management responsibility for the Commercial Property& Package Underwriting teams and resource management in close coordination with the country GMs of the DACH region and the Global/Regional product towers
  • Assumption of budget responsibility for the profit center Commercial Property& Package DACH in coordination with the Head of Property and Package EMEA and other respective Regional/Global Product Tower, including evaluation of the financial and technical Underwriting performance against the strategic business plan of Commercial Property& Package DACH
  • Management of the day-to-day business for the profit center
  • Responsibility for a profitable, growing portfolio, including channel management/planning and go-to-market strategy in collaboration with CBE
  • Handling of the most important broker and customer relationships in the DACH region in close conjunction with the Commercial Property& Package Underwriting Team and CBE
  • Escalation and contact person for brokers and customers
  • Act as Compliance Sanctions Coordinator and Risk Event Coordinator for Commercial Property& Package DACH;
  • Develop procedures for emerging (product) risks and propose appropriate mitigation strategies

External Relationship Management

  • Representing AIG to major clients and brokers in close conjunction with the Commercial Property& Package Underwriting Team
  • Expand and enhance the AIG DACH brand, including ensuring Commercial Property& Package Underwriting Team representation and thought leadership in Industry Organizations and at market conferences/events
  • Managing regulatory and external director stakeholder relationships
  • Deal with relevant stakeholders on a regular basis to gather information required for qualifying and quantifying current customer needs as well as emerging risks and exposure

People Management

  • Making hiring and resource allocation and development decisions for resources in DACH, in alignment with the regional and global governance structure and ensuring and fostering a diverse work environment
  • Communicating the AIG DACH vision, mission, and overall GI direction
  • Serve as a member of the DACH Senior Leadership Team

What we’re looking for:

  • Successfully completed legal or economics studies
  • Experience in the Continental European insurance market and the Commercial/Corporate and/or SME industry and its development opportunities
  • Extensive work experience in the insurance industry with strong experience in Property Insurance
  • In-depth knowledge of legal regulations in the Commercial Property& Package sector
  • Strong business thinking, sound judgement and analytical skills to lead strategically and results-oriented
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work with different business units and industries, especially regarding stakeholder management at different hierarchical levels
  • Strong experience in change management and team leadership as well as the ability to manage and implement change
  • Very good communication skills (written, oral, presentations, training) in German and English

  • A track record of financial and operational success in general insurance having delivered profitable growth in the destined region
  • A “natural” with clients who can represent AIG effectively and support the introduction, establishment and growth of valuable client relationships in DACH
  • Experienced people leader; a relationship developer and team builder; a strong focus on talent and leadership development; someone who attracts and develops high-caliber talent and who builds diverse, high-performing teams.
  • Proven ability to manage a broad range of stakeholders.

Technical Skills and Expertise:

  • Strong DACH industry experience, with established market credibility across multiple product lines
  • Several years’ experience in managing country operations or large-scale functional or product teams within DACH region.
  • A leader who defines and executes bold strategies advantage, combining strategic vision with a hands-on, results-driven mindset.
  • Ability to represent AIG with impact and credibility in internal and external settings, including C-level client engagements and industry forums.
  • Proven track record of successfully operating within a complex international insurance environment
  • Broad knowledge of Package functions across value chains, with a strong focus on automation, digitalization, and operational efficiency
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - fluency in written and spoken English as well as German
