Job Description
In order to support the department Chief Engineering Science & Life Support Missions, Airbus Defence and Space is looking for an Internship in Engineering / Bio-Engineering for Space Exploration (d/f/m). Our department competence is to deliver Chief Engineering Services combined with unique scientific knowledge in biology, medicine, physics and material science for space applications to programs and projects during offer, planning and execution phases. Our perimeter emphasizes the development of Space Payload Systems such as scientific payloads for the International Space Station with overall responsibility for end to end delivery of design, manufacturing, test and operation.
Special expertise within our department serves our program line clusters in Life Science, including Human Physiology and Biochemistry, Material Science, Fundamental and Fluid Physics, Energy and Closed Loop Systems as well as Optical Systems. Hereby we build the bridge from science to the product solution by applied systems engineering.
As an intern, you will accompany the aforementioned processes and be mentored by a member of the Chief Engineering Team, enabling you to get an insight into the human space flight business. We are looking for candidates who are interested to work in a responsibility mix of engineering (2/3) and biology related tasks (1/3) in the frame of Airbus trans-divisional research and development projects.
You offer:
- You are enrolled full time student (d/f/m) within the field of engineering, bio-engineering or natural sciences (STEM with e.g. specialization in microbiology, molecular biology and biochemistry).
- Practice in cloning and expression of recombinant proteins.
- Experience working in a biological safety Lab L1.
- Team spirit and willingness to co-operate and work together in an international company.
- People around you define you as an open-minded, pro-active and dynamic person.
- You are very well organized and know how to adapt to different situations.
- Autonomy and good communication skills are some of your assets.
- Fluent English language skills; German language skills are an asset.
- You are a good team player, have excellent communication skills, and are able to work independently.
