In order to support the Air Generation department, Airbus Operations is looking for a Master student in the field of air conditioning systems (d/f/m), title of thesis "Turbomachinery design for aircraft air conditioning system". Your location
You will be working at the largest production site for civil aircraft situated in Hamburg. Its location on the southern banks of the river Elbe includes the option to commute by ferry. Experience the special flair of Hamburg in your spare time where vibrant cosmopolitan culture meets nautic legacy.

Your tasks and responsibilities
- Literature research and familiarization with vapor cycle centrifugal compressor design methodologies.
- Preliminary design of a centrifugal compressor based vapor cycle for an aircraft air conditioning system.
- Initial sizing and optimisation of the air conditioning system based on first order models.
- Documentation.
Desired skills and qualifications
- Enrolled full-time student (d/f/m) in the area of Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or similar field of study.
- Knowledge in turbomachinery, ideally with the background of fluid dynamics and thermo-fluidic systems.
- Knowledge of Python or C++.
- Familiarity with CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) and/or system modeling with Dymola/Modelica or similar tool.
- Basic knowledge of optimization techniques and/or uncertainty quantification is appreciated.
- Experience in or a willingness to work in an international team and with international internal interfaces as well as external suppliers.
- Ability to deal with abstract problems and issues in an analytical way.
- Fluent in English.
