  • Investment Banking Associate – Chemicals Team - Frankfurt
  • The Business

This is an exciting opportunity to join a global mid-market bank with a strong track record of successfully completing M&A, Debt, and Fundraising transactions.

With a highly reputable Senior Team and a commitment to professional development, our client provides an environment where everyone can thrive.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious M&A Associate to join a well-established, high-performing Chemicals team based in Frankfurt.

Ideal candidates will be Investment Banking M&A professionals with a minimum of 4 years of M&A / Corporate Finance deal execution experience from a Bank or Leading Advisory platform.

The Chemicals sector team is a core vertical in Europe, making the focused desks a significant part of the firm’s sector coverage.

Experience in the Chemicals or Diversified Industrials sector is desirable.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead transaction execution from start to finish — manage the full lifecycle of M&A, equity/debt capital raising, or other corporate finance transactions for Chemicals clients.

This includes working on live deals across multiple transactions concurrently.

  • Be the main client contact on engagements — interface regularly with C-suite executives (CEOs, CFOs, Corporate Development leads) at client companies (public or private), acting as the principal day-to‑day banker on the transaction.
  • Prepare and deliver client materials — develop pitch decks, information memoranda, financial models, valuation analyses, and other transaction documentation.

Presentations and deliverables must be of high quality, suitable for senior stakeholders.

  • Perform financial analysis, valuation and due diligence — lead or oversee valuation work (DCF, comparables, other relevant methods), financial modelling, and due diligence to support M&A or financing decisions.
  • Originate / support deal sourcing and pitch development — while execution is often the primary focus, VPs will also assist (or lead, depending on level) in origination — building relationships, identifying potential mandates, contributing to pitch strategy and outreach to prospective clients or investors.
  • Manage and mentor junior team members — supervise associates and analysts, review their work (models, decks), ensure quality control, set deadlines and manage workflow across multiple deals.
  • Collaborate internally across product & coverage teams — coordinate with other parts of the bank when transactions require multi-product or cross-sector capabilities, leveraging the full resources of the firm.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience

  • Must have a minimum 4 years of M&A sell side deal execution experience ideally from an investment bank or boutique advisory firm.
  • Proven experience with mid-market M&A transactions and working with high profile Private Equity clients including an understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities that come with this space.
  • Must have exceptional oral and written communication abilities, with a focus on building rapport with clients and stakeholders from diverse backgrounds.
  • Proven ability to coach and support junior staff members, fostering an environment of collaboration and mutual respect.
  • A problem-solving mindset, with the ability to adapt to changing priorities, think creatively, and innovate.
