September 2026 Start date: At the earliest possible date Scope of work: Full-time Reference no.: 00005140 The newly established Environmental Geochemistry Laboratory seeks a motivated individual with a technical or scientific background to join our team.
We investigate fundamental and applied questions in environmental geochemistry, focusing on contaminant behavior, groundwater protection, and biogeochemical element cycling.
Our interdisciplinary approach combines biogeochemical, mineralogical, and hydrogeochemical methods with state-of-the-art analytics to advance sustainable resource protection.
- Your tasks
- Establish, develop, and ensure smooth operation of the Applied Geochemistry Laboratory, with a central focus on a new LC-ICP-MS for trace elemental analysis.
- Oversee laboratory maintenance, procurement, and safety management.
- Train and support staff and students in using infrastructure (including IC, AAS, UV/VIS, XRD, TOC, SEM, Mössbauer spectrometer) and conducting experiments.
- Develop technical solutions and optimize analytical methods, particularly for ICP-MS applications, in collaboration with doctoral researchers and postdocs.
- Support research projects through laboratory work, field activities, sampling, and measurements.
- Assist with field and laboratory practical courses.
Your profile
- Degree: At least a Bachelor’s or university degree (FH) in environmental sciences, geosciences, chemistry, or a related field (or comparable professional qualification).
- Expertise: Solid theoretical and practical knowledge in water or environmental analysis.

- Enthusiasm for innovative technologies and willingness to learn new topics.
- Strong understanding of technical and environmental chemistry.
- Careful, reliable, and precise working style.
- German and English proficiency (at least B2 level).
- Teamwork skills and intercultural competence.
