Our client is a rapidly growing European company developing advanced propulsion technologies and launch systems for both commercial and defence applications. With an active test and flight program already underway, the company is focused on scaling its propulsion capabilities and supporting the next generation of launch vehicle development.
We are looking for a Propulsion Test Engineer to plan, prepare, execute, and analyse propulsion test campaigns. The role will focus on static-fire testing of rocket propulsion systems, working closely with propulsion, systems, and test engineers to generate high-quality data and support rapid hardware development cycles.
This is a highly hands-on role offering direct involvement in propulsion testing, launch campaign activities, and the development of flight-ready hardware. The environment is fast-paced, engineering-driven, and highly execution focused.
Key Responsibilities
- Define test objectives, success criteria, instrumentation requirements, test configurations, and data deliverables.
- Prepare test procedures, checklists, risk assessments, readiness reviews, and supporting documentation.
- Configure propulsion hardware, instrumentation, data acquisition systems, test facilities, and supporting equipment.
- Execute or support static-fire and ground test campaigns in a safe and structured manner.
- Troubleshoot test issues and support anomaly investigations.
- Acquire, validate, process, and analyse test data including pressure, temperature, force, and performance measurements.
- Produce post-test reports and collaborate with engineering teams on design improvements and future test campaigns.
- Support continuous improvement of test procedures, safety processes, and facility operations.
What We're Looking For
- Degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Mechatronics, or a related discipline.
- Experience in test engineering, experimental engineering, laboratory environments, commissioning, or hardware development.
- Experience creating and executing structured test procedures.
- Familiarity with instrumentation, sensors, calibration, data acquisition, and data analysis.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
- Comfortable working directly with hardware, test stands, facilities, and flight-critical systems.
Preferred Experience
- Rocket propulsion, propulsion testing, combustion systems, pressure vessels, or aerospace hardware.
- Static-fire testing of solid, liquid, or hybrid propulsion systems.
- Experience with load cells, pressure transducers, thermocouples, and high-speed DAQ systems.
- Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, or other engineering analysis tools.
- Signal processing, uncertainty analysis, and test-data validation.
- Knowledge of thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, combustion, or internal ballistics.
- Launch vehicle, defence, or aerospace test environments.
What We Offer
- Competitive compensation package, including performance-based incentives.
- Equity participation opportunities.
- Relocation support.
- Exposure to cutting-edge rocket propulsion and launch vehicle programs.
- High levels of ownership, responsibility, and technical impact.
- Fast-paced engineering environment with direct visibility into hardware development and flight campaigns.
This is a high-performance startup environment where engineers are empowered to take ownership, solve complex technical problems, and move quickly. Candidates should be comfortable working with a high degree of autonomy, accountability, and flexibility while contributing to ambitious aerospace development programs.
