The Associate Director Sales Metabolics will be responsible for effectively managing the team of Key Account Managers, driving key account management, sales performance, and flawless execution within the assigned area. The candidate will coach team members according to their individual needs, monitor sales effectiveness indicators, and implement marketing initiatives to achieve commercial goals.

This role also requires maintaining a high level of disease-specific scientific knowledge and understanding in the relevant therapeutic field. The candidate should be able to coach and develop their team on scientific and sales-related skills and engage in complex discussions with healthcare professionals about our rare orphan indications and products, respecting local regulations, company values, and guidelines.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Hiring, developing, and leading a high-performing Hypophosphatasia (HPP) sales team.
  2. Achieving or exceeding sales objectives in the region.
  3. Coaching, leading, motivating, and inspiring a team of 5 Key Account Managers (KAMs), including conducting regular field coaching days and KPI assessments.
  4. Providing input in the development of local marketing strategies with the Metabolics Brand Team.
  5. Leading KAMs in developing cross-functional, tactical account plans and ensuring their execution.
  6. Implementing a multi-channel account management approach to develop relationships with key customer groups through various communication channels.
  7. Providing regular feedback to KAMs to support business development and professional growth, using coaching tools to identify gaps and follow-up.
  8. Building and maintaining relationships with physicians and Key Thought Leaders.
  9. Ensuring high-quality customer service and collaboration between KAMs and other functions.
  10. Developing and mentoring high-potential KAMs.
  11. Conducting annual performance reviews and supporting territory presentations in bi-annual reviews.
  12. Managing performance and corrective counseling effectively.
  13. Ensuring all activities comply with SOPs, compliance policies, and data laws.

Qualifications required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific or business field with a strong scientific background.
  • At least 10 years of pharmaceutical sales experience, especially in highly specialized areas.
  • Proven success in managing sales territories.
  • Ability to motivate and lead a sales team.
  • Customer-focused approach covering large accounts, physicians, patients, and payors.
  • Excellent communication skills in German and English.
  • Influential presentation skills and ability to address customer needs effectively.
  • Self-motivated, organized, and collaborative problem solver.
  • Strong business, analytical, and clinical skills.
  • Relevant professional licenses and willingness to travel.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Ability to participate in international meetings conducted in English.
