Senior Mechanical Engineer in München

Allan-Ashford Technology Recruitment are currently supporting an exciting robotics scale-up developing next-generation autonomous solutions for the Industrial industry, and they are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join their growing engineering team.

This is an opportunity to work on real robotic systems that are being deployed in challenging environments, taking mechanical concepts from design and prototyping through to field testing and continuous improvement.

The Role

As a Senior Mechanical Engineer, you will take ownership of the mechanical design and development of robotic systems, with a strong focus on robustness, manufacturability and real-world performance.

You’ll work closely with electrical and software engineers to ensure mechanical systems integrate effectively and perform reliably in the field.

Key Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems including frames, housings, joints and structural components
• Optimise designs for strength, weight, vibration, durability and manufacturability
• Own mechanical design from concept through to prototyping, testing and iteration
• Collaborate closely with electrical and software teams on system integration
• Conduct and support prototype and field testing, using results to improve designs
• Lead material selection and mechanical component decisions
• Use CAD to develop detailed designs and optimise assemblies for manufacture and serviceability
• Help establish practical, scalable mechanical solutions as the robotic platform develops

What They're Looking For

• BSc or MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics or a related discipline
• Strong professional experience in mechanical design and product development
• Excellent CAD skills, ideally with SolidWorks, Fusion 360 or similar
• Hands-on experience with prototyping, testing and mechanical validation
• Strong understanding of materials, manufacturing processes and mechanical engineering principles
• A practical, hands-on approach to engineering and problem solving
• Experience working on robotics, autonomous systems, industrial machinery or similar complex hardware would be highly advantageous
• Previous field testing or experience developing products for challenging environments would be a strong plus
