Intern Advanced Fixed Income (f/m/d)

Advanced Fixed Income team is offering 6 to 12 months internships starting as soon as possible. We are looking for forward-thinking and results-oriented final year Master or Ph.D. student. This position will be based in our Frankfurt office.

What you will do

• Actively support the Advanced Fixed Income team and its portfolio managers in their daily investment tasks
• Leverage your technical and data analysis skills to analyse financial markets
• Ad hoc tasks on fixed income instruments such as bonds or derivatives
• Assist in the data value chain (gather new data, clean and structure data, create descriptive statistics, analyse data, use data as model inputs)
• Leverage knowledge of econometric models and machine learning methodologies to help the team in the systematic application of these
• Contribute to the development and optimization of investment processes
• The exact project assignment may vary depending on your skill set and the team’s needs. For example, your project may focus on secular trends of interest rates, forecasting inflation using state of the art ML tools, forecasting Prepayments of MBS securities, integrate macro data into our proprietary data infrastructure.

What you bring

• Master student in a quantitative and/or analytical discipline (e.g., Economics, Finance, Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics, …)
• Being data driven and programming affine
• Interest in understanding/exploring the financial markets, particularly at the intersection between fixed income, economics, and empirical econometrics
• Solid understanding of statistics as well as macro- and econometrical models
• Basic understanding of Machine Learning tools (e.g. random forest, gradient-boosted trees, support vector machine, …) is useful
• Good knowledge and practical experience in using Python, R, Matlab or equivalent for data analysis (we use Python)
• Basic familiarity with Git, Azure DevOps, or Databricks is useful but not necessary
• Some experience with SQL would be helpful as well
• Very good English (at least C1) and German (at least B1) communication skills
• You are organized, self-motivated and able to work independently with a high reliability
• Ability to work in a dynamic environment as a team player.
